How are people mad at these quotes?
If Joe Alleva's job is to protect the integrity of the institution (and I believe that is part of his job), then it appears he (along with the rest of the BOS and F King) failed when we knew of the wiretap in October and they did not thoroughly investigate this and follow every possible trail.
Every player on LSU's team along with parents should have been interviewed and questioned out of precaution back then (even though Smart wasn't named at first). Will Wade should have been extensively questioned and asked to explain everything that was leaked at that time as well as well as how he even knew Dawkins to begin with. They should have also reached out to the party where the information was originally reported from to see what other information they could have possibly gotten in order to know everything they could possibly know at that time to make sound decisions then and there for the future. It appears that they all half-assed it or were completely asleep at the wheel back in October. There was no due diligence.
If you're not proactive, you have to be reactive, and now we're seeing all these unpopular reactions late in the season when none of this had to unfold the way it has the last week or so. Wade may have broken the "rules," but LSU's administration failed here no matter how they try to act like the protectors of all integrity.

Yep. You’re supposed to toe the corporate line and don’t ask questions regardless.
You know what other group of people “toed the line and didn’t ask questions”? I’ll give you a hint. They lived in Germany in the 1920s.

I get the strong feeling that Joe Alleva is a narcissist. I would not let this man near any young adults. He is obviously delusional about his responsibilities and his environment. Some doctor needs to medicate this man before he costs Louisiana State University millions of dollars.

For ANYONE claiming Alleva is not to blame, read this crap:
Think about that!
He actually called Will Wade to speak, not privately, but rather according to the Advocate, in front of the NCAA about matters for which Wade is under subpoena, and will have to testify about in Federal Court next month. That move is breathtakingly stupid, unless of course your motive is to get rid of Wade.

I believe we did the right thing.
“It’s not all about winning. A lot of people just care about winning. … Winning is not the end of what we do. Our job is to prepare young people for the rest of their lives. If there is, and I use the word strongly, if there’s any cheating involved that is not winning, OK? That is not winning.”

This is one of the dumbest rebuttals that I've ever come across on this site. Congrats on that astonishing accomplishment.

i am probably one of O's biggest critics on this board.
I mean like Johnny Jones, Nikki Fargas ineptness, not the all time #1 W% FB coach, SEC Titles, NC appearances and most recent deliverer of a FB NC to LSU?
Posted on 3/13/19 at 3:15 pm to Buga225
He really is completely clueless. And too arrogant to realize it.

Yup. Should have had an initial meeting with JA (and FK if necessary) before any other parties were brought into any additional form of communication if deemed necessary. WW could have taken or rejected the second meeting based on his and his attorney's take on the initial meeting. I wouldn't have met with NCAA reps, period, until after basketball was finished.

If winning isn’t everything, why did he fire Miles? And why won’t he fire Fargas?
Posted on 3/13/19 at 3:22 pm to ell_13
If there was any wrongdoing then Aleva knows all about it. He is well aware of how teams win consistently at basketball. He was part of Duke.
That is unless he is a mushroom that lives in a dark closet and is continuously feed bull shite.
