If he wasn't so cocky and arrogant for no reason I'd be nicer, but this guy deserves 0 sympathy. I've never seen a guy play so awful yet still feel entitled to being the starter.

who is better?

Mett will get his chance to prove he is better. Hopefully he never needs it because JJ has a decent season. Not being able to pass for over 100 yards againsst Vandy? Come on, Lee stepped in and did better. JJ should be the starter because of his experience, but Mett deserves a chance if JJ can't fullfill his duties. Not 3 weeks after JJ is looking bad, that very game.

After an impressive spring game preformance when he went 4-14 , he claimed he cemented himself as a starter... while Met didn't look amazing but looked much better than him

You do know that those who decide such things have JJ running 1st team, JL running 2nd team, and Mett running 3rd team...right?

I'm not really sure what the big deal is with JJ thinking he is the starter. I mean, hasn't he been that since 08?

And as far as the "very, very stupid" part, that's just a low class flame and doesn't speak well for you, but whatever floats your boat.

because I've seen him be complimentary of both of his backups. I've seen him say that he's the QB but he's gotta stay humble because you never know. hell, I saw an SEC Media Days clip where the interviewer was talking up Mett and JJ went out of his way to bring Lee into the conversation. I guess he'd forgotten for a min that he hates Lee.

this is how stats don't tell the whole story. i'd probably put him as our fifth best qb over the past past 10 years behind mauck, flynn, JR, davey. if RP would have stuck around maybe he's sixth. don't get me wrong, i hope we see a new jj this year, but i just found this interesting.

So it looks like he will be the winningest QB unless this season is a disappointment.

So my question is, how well does if have to do this year to "earn it"? What kind of performance does he have to have for people to look back and say he was good QB?

We have a long snapper with the most wins as well. What does that mean?

It will never be said.

JJ could have a monster season and win the heisman and people would say "He was a horrible QB that had a fluke senior season"

Nothing would get rantards to say he's a good QB.

Didn't work out so well for Herb Tyler his senior year, and IMHO his on field performance was more consistent and effective than JJ's.

Bottom line is IMHO we got away with overall mediocre and inconsistent QB play the last two years, and I include both JL and JJ in that analysis, to have enough reasonable overall success in that period.

I don't think we can get away with that another year. Gotta improve the performance at that position to be where we all want us to be.

In spite of Jefferson, we won a tremendous amount of football games.

Depends on which JJ shows up. The one from the Vandy or West V games or the one from the Bama, Old Mis, and A&M games.

Not talked bout much cause the total D/scoring D worked out pretty good, but we need to do a much better job at stopping the run as well. imo

In ALL sports you almost never pull the starter for a rocky start or a bad play. It's bad for the team.

He does come off as arrogant and he pouts too damn much. He has never demonstrated much leadership. When Rohan was on the bench, he cheered on Josh Booty. (Check out the 2000 Bama game). Marcus Randle pulled for JR. Hell, even JR, not known as a great leader, pulled for Marcus in the 04 UF and Hog games. IMO JJ sulked when Lee played last year. (and how would JJ's record look without Lee's contribution in the UF or Vol games?
Herb Tyler would have the career record if not or Lou F'ing Tepper.

And no, EastFork, I don't miss W. That SOB screwed America with an unnecessary war, extra debt and financial collapse.

Yeah, the comments are kind of harsh, more so than they should be, but you are kidding yourself if you think this doesn't happen on every fan board for every team in the country...believe me, every school does this...

JJ cheered for Lee when Lee was in. JJ is a pretty stoic guy and doesn't show a whole lot of emotion most of the time, but I distinctly remember a JL touchdown where JJ was estatic. I think it was Florida.

eta
he's not estatic here, but at :20 you can see him walking up to JL to congratulate him. I don't get where the whole pouty thing came from

We? So Jefferson had nothing to do with the wins, but some random douche on the rant did?

I'm eight games away from being the quarterback that has won the most games at LSU.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
we will see how that plays out at draft time, I am guessing, no takers

does it bother anyone else that jj validates his performance with statements like this?
JJ didn't write the category in the stat book so I don't know why some take it so personal.
He's top 10 all time in a number of categories.
Suck it haters.
