B S! You youngster don't know crap about the history of LSU Sports

Is it easier to recruit baseball players to LSU now or when Skip was hired?

Was it easier to recruit to LSU after Saban or prior to Saban?

Was it easier to recruit to LSU Basketball after Dale Brown or prior to Brown?

Completely different eras and can't be compared. Transfer Portal and NIL and all that. Jay Johnson knows how to navigate the current state of the game better than anyone in the country and he does it with class. He's far and away the best coach on LSU's campus. Mulkey is the only coach who comes remotely close.

You likely never watched a live game coached by skip....but you young guys think only current players/coaches the best....

But that's exactly what the thread title does. Says JJ is best coach we have had.

Agreed. The 2 best are JJ and Mulkey. I think Mulkey gets another National Title in the next few years

OP comment relates more to Dedoux at USC he won 10-11 titles in 60s-mid 70s. Arizona st was their only real challenge. LSU had less resources back in the 80s also. So what Skip did here was amazing!!!

Jay is the best coach in college.

He doesn’t get down on his players and they love him. He could have gotten down on Jones but he kept faith. And it paid off.

We’re lucky to have this moment in time with JJ. Appreciate it

Yep. The main reason I put him ahead is I just don't feel like women's college basketball is very competitive. You look at college baseball and we have top seeds getting wrecked. Women's college basketball, if you're a top 3 seed you barely sweat through the sweet 16. It's just more guaranteed. The talent past the top 10 teams is just not that good. College baseball is such a tough sport to win titles in these days and he's already been to the CWS finals 3 times and he's 48.

kip won all those NCs when baseball wasn’t taken seriously by mist colleges

Skip put baseball on the map.... before Skip 200 fans at the game was a stellar turnout.

winning 5 NCs in his time span has not been repeated.....and likely wont.

Skip buiol=t the culture that made LSU a success...without skip, there is no Jay Johnson coming to LSU

I started following LSU football and basketball in the seventies and didn’t realize they had a baseball team until Skip Bertman got there and landed Ben McDonald.

It’s always hard to compare across eras

But I’ve said fir a couple of years now, JJ is the baseball Saban. The way he works and the way he approaches the game.

JJ realized we needed better pitching and defense and adjusted to that.

If Jay stays coaching here we are going to be set for a long time.

Skip was a master of when to leave a pitcher in and when to pull a pitcher. Skip was a statistics king doing it all on paper and his head. Now, all these statistics are at the finger tips of the HC. JJ is also great at this, but don't under sell what Skip did.
