Didn't Jimbo get in all new assistants on both sides of the ball?

I'm asking honestly.

Really not sure what you're laughing at. Sumlin ran a soft team at A&M. Jimbo is turning that around.

They've gone from 62nd to 2nd in rushing yards allowed per game. That's a huge change.

They've also improved in passing yards allowed per game, before yo try to use that excuse.

Scoring defense has gone from 82nd to 34th.

The culture is changing very obviously.

We get it you don’t like Jimbo, you think he isn’t a good coach, so tell us what do you think his record should have been this year?

This is the fair question. I don’t think many would have said 7-5 though.

Jimbo is a loss to LSU away from what most would consider a disappointing start.

Statement like prove his point. You are judging year 1 vs what 6 years Sumlin was there? If 3-4 years from now Fisher hasn’t done better than 8-4, then you will have a point. If you think that he had to do better than Sumlins last years every single year from day 1 that’s unreasonable

And near the same results as the previous 5 years.

Defense taking a step up but offense taking a step down. All even so far.

Is Jimbo trying to be more like LSU...great defense..average at best offense?

Hint - It doesn't work like that Jimbo.

And Saban was 7-6 his first year at Bama, what's your point? Or are we only allowed to compare O to Saban?

Jimbo has A&M playing a style that can actually win once he gets his people on offense. I know it pains some of yall to admit it.

Taking over a 7-5 team is definitely more of a rebuild than taking over a 9-3 team.

From 2005-2015 LSU won 78% of there games. In that same period A&M won 59% of their games. Its not hard to see where the steepest slope upward is to be found. imo

Did you read the part about 6 seniors and 2 juniors on Defense?

You think Sumlin would have these guys playing that kind of defense? Let's take a look at the rush yards allowed per game rankings under Sumlin:

2012: 34
2013: 113
2014: 114
2015: 104
2016: 75
2017: 62

No one had a problem saying Sumlin ran a soft program while he was there. Why are we now trying to pretend he isn't since Jimbo is changing that?

Jimbo inherited 6 seniors and two juniors that have played a ton of football for AnM, thats not a culture change its good fortune.

So in Sumlin's tenure, he never had upperclassmen? Stop it

I agree they were soft. Thanks to Chavis, but it does look like a positive trend over the last 3 years. Elko is very good. We saw that last year vs ND. It's also likely the fact that A&M's big stars on D are all SRs this year which helped. Keke, Alaka, Landis and Durham are all SRs. It will be interesting to see how good that D is next year when Elko and Jimbo have to work around losing 4 of their front 7.

Recruiting was the one thing sumlin did well

He did an ok job. Jimbo is doing much better than he did.

Sumlin had the one monster class with Kyle Allen, Speed Noil and Myles Garrett but he never sustained it.

Jimbo has staying power.

You can be rebuilding the culture without rebuilding the roster.

We gave up almost 100 more yards rushing per game last year with these players. That doesn't happen just because a few guys get another year of experience, especially in a completely new system with every position coach changed except for 1.

why do you feel so compelled to come up with excuses for Texas Am coach, but so quick to down LSU's coach?

Just a reminder that LSU hasn't beaten Jimbo Fisher on the field yet.

Here's a thought

How about we beat Jimbo Fisher's team,

and THEN we talk incessantly about how bad he is to feel better about not hiring him.

What excuses am I making? HE is in his first year. That's a fact. they are playing very differnetly than they did under their previous coach. That's a fact,

LSU is essentially in it's 3rd year of O running things, and the offense is the going in the wrong direction. What am I being quick about?

doesn't that meant that the defense will be a rebuild NEXT SEASON. 6 seniors and 2 juniors is not a rebuild to the
defense this season.

no Jimbo-recruited players.

how many should he have? It is his first season. Why do you even include this. What point are you trying to make with that? It would show it was more of a rebuild if he had true freshman (which would therefore be HIS recruits) starting.

A&M had the 17th best class last year and no one other than Sternberger can start, only three total in the two-deep.

Jimbo inherited a good roster, that's not a total rebuild.
