re: Jake Johnson commits to Aggie$

Max will most likely not be our starting QB next year. We desperately needed depth in the QB room. If King didn’t finally heal up, we’d be starting a walk on for the bowl.
Really have no idea why he’d come here tho when he’ll have to compete with the guy we thought would start this season and the #1 QB in this class. Doesn’t make much sense.

Elko did not want to work for Brian Kelly, that was a big reason why he left ND to come to A&M. And he’s likely getting a HC position sooner than later.
He’s not going to start over again anywhere.

King got hurt on the first drive of the second game of the season.
There’s literally no evidence to suggest he will be a good or bad QB.

Cheers! Here’s to a good game on Saturday.
He was offered by OU, Baylor and the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Opinions on their sexuality aside, they are very reliable with information.
Apparently LSU has hired someone

From our insiders at TexAgs, LSU offered Martell Harris(one of our commits who grew up in BR).
The reasoning for the late offer is that a staffer that’s being retained had wanted to make an offer but it needed to be signed off my the new head man.
They don’t know who the guy is though.

re: What hire would make you admit, "Ok, this didn't go the way I thought it would."

I would melt for you guys if you hired Bill O'Brien. How that guy is even mentioned for head coaching jobs is beyond me.
This is much more fun when it isn't about your own schools coach.

re: For those that remember, in detail, Jimbo leaving FSU for A&M: was the timeline similar?

I thought his wife was messing around with a Florida player?

Sumlin was fired on Nov 17th, Jimbo was hired on Dec 1st.
It did come out that Woodward had been in contact with Jimbo after the TAMU vs. UCLA collapse that year, so the process was already in motion.

re: Jimbo just said he isn’t going anywhere and that he would have to be the dumbest

He said he'd be dumb to recruit players to FSU so he can go play against them at A&M...?
Either way he was right because he definitely stopped recruiting when he decided he was leaving FSU, which was a big tell that he was leaving.

Elko will not leave A&M unless it's for a head coaching job.
That's not a diss at LSU or anything, if we were both hiring coordinators when he left ND, I'm sure he probably would have went to LSU.
He's ready to take the next step and become a headcoach somewhere at a decent program. I really don't think we hang on to him for 2 more years.

There are a couple differences in our coaching searches though.
Sumlin was let go on November 17th 2017 and Jimbo was hired on December 1st. Our "search" only lasted 2 weeks.
After Jimbo was hired, it came out that Woodward had decided to let Sumlin go after the UCLA collapse and Jimbo was initially contacted around then.
There were definitely rumors and stuff swirling before he was hired though.
If I remember correctly, the information we were given beforehand from our insider website was something along the lines of "Just let it play out and you'll be happy" without ever mentioning Jimbo's name.

Woodward doesn't do coaching searches. He had his guy in the bag before Coach O was fired.
Buzz Williams was seen as a great hire at the time for our Men's Basketball. However, he has not panned out at all.
Don't really think that has anything to do with Woodward though, Buzz had a great track record at Marquett and VTech.

The guy following his recruitment on our side the most says that the consensus from the people he's talked to is that he'll sign with LSU if they hire a coach he likes.
I dont know anything, but my vibe is that he'll be a Tiger.

Just posting this for information but we have 2 coaches on the DL. Coach Robinson does the inside guys and Coach Price is the DE coach.
Both are great, Coach Robinson is a younger guy with a bright future in the coaching world, actually I believe he was the primary recruiter for Walter Nolan who just committed today. Coach Price is here to stay though, he’s an alum, doesn’t really want to do anything except smoke BBQ and Coach defensive lineman.
