And then, we'd all bring "bird calls" to the game and drown out Bird Man.
Then, we could all get our wives/sig others to go stand out in the bleachers with the "Tigers" sign and the rst of us stay in the grand stand with "Geaux" signs.
I can wipe out the entire annoying fanbase in one game.

or we can come here and voice our opinion, and hope the athletic dept takes notice

I rarely get a chance to listen to Hawthorne at all anymore, but he's not nearly as bad as some of the other pure crap out there
move to another city with a major university (say Texas)
and just try for 5 minutes to listen to their announcer (let's call him Craig Way)
and come back and tell me that he is not the most boring, robotic pile of audio shite you've ever heard
trust me fellow Tiger fans, it can get ALOT worse

Just as it can get A LOT better.

so we shouldn't try to get better out of the fear of it being worse?

Yeah I'm sure that's where Aleva is getting his direction from, TD hahaha

you are naive if you think this board doesn't influence lsu at least a little

And no one goes around trumpeting how LSU has the best radio team in the SEC. The best you can do in defending him is "he loves LSU and he's a fan." That's damning with faint praise when his job is to be a broadcaster first and a fan second, not the other way around.

What influences the Athletic Dept is money. Stop listening to the radio, their ratings drop, ad revenue falls, Jim may get replaced.
Maybe an overload of emails would help too, but I seriously don't think Aleva is coming on here to see what people think.

Probably the smartest thing said. But it really sucks when there is no other way to listen to the games. I am supposed to stop supporting LSU now, just to get a competent play-by-play guy.
By the way I've already stopped listening to senile bastard, I guess sending out emails is next!

After the football and basketball seasons you should be happy he isn't like Bob youker in major league. Jim on his worst day is better than the Cox crew on TV.

Baseball or Football? Both?

Come now, Ice.
A literary allusion on the Rant?
That's going straight over 99.9 percent's heads.

Dude my point in saying that was to show how rediculous it is to argue that the guy doesn't give a shite about the outcome of the game and that he just wants to go home.
FYI, he doesn't give a shite about the outcome of the game and he just wants to go home. And if you don't believe it go back and listen to the game again. He wasn't the most depressed when LSU was losing, he was most depressed when the game was tied and he knew it was going to extra innings and when he thought it was going to go to the 13th.
He spent half the game talking about it being a midweek game and it not making a difference in the long run, so LSU losing or not driving across the winning run when they had a chance shouldn't have made him so upset. He even went great lengths at the end of the Georgia loss Saturday to explain it was only one game and that LSU could still win the series, etc.
The baseball team losing doesn't bother him. Having to sit in the booth past his bedtime and do his fvcking job is what bothers him. I can't really understand anyone who even attempts to dispute this fact. You can easily tell by his tone, but half the time he doesn't even try to hide it with his numerous complaints and comments.

We are fans of LSU baseball, and consumers of the broadcast production LSU creates. Therefore, we have the appropriate context in which to evaluate that product.
Fans of LSU baseball appreciate the effort that goes into the season-long production of broadcasting LSU baseball. I'm sure there are cupcake parts to the job and strenuous/BS aspects also...after all it's a job.
There's more to the market than appeasing TD.com. As long as the Purple & Gold Classic Rock Giant is selling ads for LSU Baseball broadcasts, JH will have his arse in the seat and a mic in his hands until HE decides he's had enough.
