I know it has been discussed by various outlets that Jhase Thomas has been getting reps with the 1's on D over the last week or so. Last season, he redshirted and mostly played special teams but did have a big punt block resulting in a safety against A&M. In the post showing some highlights from the scrimmage in Tiger Stadium the other night, I saw Thomas blow someone up on the sideline one play and come down with an interception on what looked to be a tipped ball on another. Clearly they aren't just giving this job to Cooley as the incumbent, curious to see how reps shake out or if we end up with a Stamps & Gilbert situation like last year where they just got passed up by other guys.

I loved the addition when we took him out of Destrehan. Long player at 6'1" and ran 11.07 in the hundred. Yep, gimme dat. Good to see him starting to put it together.

Having Cooley and Thomas is going to pay dividends. Great problem to have.

Cooley cooled off after Kelly paid him. JT is playing for that next contract

I don't disagree at all. For me, it is very impressive if he has clearly established his role there in a room that clearly brought in Benefield to replace Haulcy, brought back Cooley, & brought back Spears to replace Perk. If Thomas starts, he has earned it just like Woodland did last year on a team that returned a 2 year starter in Stamps and brought in Delane and Pickett, & Woodland had a heck of a year.

He put on some weight in the offseason too. Still has room to put more weight on but its always good for the team to have good competition at positions when there is an incumbent starter. Now I'm still curious what actually happens when the season starts who is in that 3rd safety spot.

Its sad when it comes to that with college players. I miss when everyone was hungry in their college days to make the $ in NFL, not satisfied with paydays now. That was the main reason I always like CFB better.
