I don't understand how all these great rant coaches can't see that Jennings getting us in the correct running play by checking off is a huge quality that Harris hasn't developed yet. Jennings is continuously moving guys around and checking off or flipping the play. The fact that these people can't see this shows how much they know about football.

Granted he was successful on a few roll outs to Quinn but overall the play breaks down when his primary receiver is covered.

Those throws to Quinn were real improvements. The kid is getting better, plain and simple. He's even figured out the screen pass, a problem for him early on.

I don't have a problem with the first INT, Dural was knocked off his route (otherwise may have been close) and it was as good as a punt.

Post said evidence and proof of him making good reads and looking off safeties

I don't wanna bash the kid, but I'm also not gonna praise mediocrity

The only thing he has gotten better at this year is completing short passes to the RB who is 5 yards away from him. Fortunately for him, that ability played a big role in us winning this game.

I haven't seen much improvement.

But Jennings is the best option right now, so I'm not calling for Harris to start.

I just think the other guy would improve if given the same opportunites as Jennings. He played his best game against Ole Miss. The two picks were pretty bad but there was some improvement I guess..

He is gonna HAVE to stretch the field against Bama for us to win.... Saban is licking his chops with the 8 man fronts and blitz packages he will bring......

Haven't re watched yet but Jennings seemed to be opening that middle. He's definitely improving.

I'm sorry I just don't see him as effective. At least not anymore than any other college QB can be effective.

I would consider an effective paasing game as about 225 ytds and 18/30 with no INTs

What if all 12 in completions are in Q4?

And, you left out TDs in your stat line, so all else equal, that effective performance would have been good enough to lose.

Anyone that uses raw stats to define effectiveness is a fricking retard.

he made more than that and you know it.....hell he was very close to completing a deep ball to dural, as well. One of the picks was bad....the other was on third and long and was just as good as a punt, if not better. It wasn't like he was missing wide open rec's all night....I'd say he had two bad throws during the game, and at least 8 good ones....I'll even count the long one to dural that was incomplete...so that is 9.

Jennings may be a better closer than the great Les Miles himself on the recruiting trail. The guy has the clutch nerve and thats worth way more than a big arm. Good post OP.
Whether Jennings is improving or not, he was and is the right choice at QB this year.

The coaches are checking with AJ.

Seriously though, I'm over bashing AJ. He is what he is. But this thread is stupid. There are way too many hoops to jump through to try to make AJ look anything other than mediocre. Fortunately, we now seem to have the talent to win with that kind of QB play.

This kind of "logic" needs to die. If it was on 4th down, sure. But on third down, giving the other team the ball is not excusable.

I thought he played well on Saturday. I had a bunch of friends who said he played terribly and that he sucked. But they don't really understand the game of football that much, apparently.

He made a lot of good throws. He had good touch. He didn't take a sack. Even a few of his incompletions were good throws. Then he had the one to Quinn on the first drive that should have been pass interference.

The 2nd interception was a great play by the defensive back who was actually guarding the other receiver and broke off his coverage. It's not like Jennings didn't see the safety. It was a well thrown ball, just floated a little.

He's getting better. Alabama's secondary isn't as good, but they'll probably get more pressure on Jennings. We need to roll him out more to get him some easy throws.

ETA: People also need to remember that Ole Miss had the best defense we've faced in the last five years besides 2011 Alabama. Exactly what stats were you guys expecting him to put up against that defense?

Are we watching the same QB?

Those INT's he threw were horrible.

Brandon Harris could have done the same damn thing last night, say hike turn around and give the ball to the RB

Oh yeah? Because he couldn't do it against Auburn.
