We had 3 pts at the half. He was one of the reasons we didn't win the game is my point.
We had the ball 4 times in the half and one of those was kneeling to run out the clock.
So really 3 possessions.
2 out of the 3 first half possessions went into the red zone. One of which (where we ended up with no points) had a sure touchdown dropped by kayshon boutte.
The problem that game was the defense getting off the field on third down.

No we had it 4 times... JD held the ball got sacked and threw an incompletion on the last possession.

Yeah the lack of offensive production had nothing to do with it. 3 pts in a half was all on the defense.

Then lose
Yeah, let’s blame the guy who accounted for 275 yards of O and say nothing about the guys who allowed A&M to be successful on 70% of their third and fourth down conversion.
I don’t know of anyone who hasn’t acknowledged that JD doesn’t have his shortcomings as a QB and doesn’t need to get better, but this idea that he hasn’t had a good season for LSU football it’s just ridiculous.

this is compiled by someone sitting in his basement and just reading stats. Of all the QB's I have watched play, I do believe that JD's ability and his stats are about as divergent as any I have ever seen. Completing a 6 yd pass on 3rd and 8 is a positive stat but not being able to throw a pass far enough for a wide open deep receiver or even seeing the receiver on the same play is not a negative stat. This is JD in a nutshell and why his stats are meaningless.

This is spot on, JD is the king of garbage time meaningless stats

If you are happy with another 10-3 season, by all means go with JD. Your typical dual threat QB. will not win you a national championship. Please don't bring up Cam Newton bc he was an exception. Take a look at the QBs that in the pro and college playoffs and what do you see? All are pocket passers with ability to evade rushes but still looking down field to throw. All can read defenses and anticipate where the receivers will be. No risk.. no reward is what you will get with JD.
Good luck with getting a true passer to come to LSU. Only average passers that can run for this team. Les miles era all over again.

I’m thinking that coming on the heels of two in a row six win seasons beating Bama, 10 wins, and a west championship is a pretty damn good reward.

There has never been a starting lsu qb that couldn't read a defense. It's like you people actually believe you can make it to lsu and start at qb without an ability to read a defense.
It's not like Jordan Jefferson is top 10 alltime in just about every major offensive category at a top 10-15 alltime program.... and you think he did that without being able to read defenses? You really just prove your football ignorance when you say a starting lsu or sec qb can't read a defense. You can question the decision making or how quickly someone can go through those reads but without having all 22 film and knowing the play called... you can't give an accurate assessment of a qbs ability read a defense. There is a reason nfl scouts go to the team for all 22 film.

Well we will just disagree on that one.
Posted on 1/15/23 at 8:37 pm to bretwayne13
But his stats don’t count, cuz a lot of it was padded, like the TN game.

You really think starting qbs for an sec teams can't read defenses?
There is no way in hell you're the starting qb for any sec team and you can't read a defense. It's just something fans say that has no basis in reality.

I really saw it with Jefferson. The guy was dumb

LSU was second in the SEC and sixth in the nation in first downs gained.
I know, I know moving the chains is a meaningless stat. lol
By the way, while we were ranking 6th in the nation in first downs gained we were in the 70s in first down defense but by all means let’s continue to discuss our starting quarterback nonstop.

So what you’re saying is JD’s ups are damn good and his downs are bad?
Little late getting back on this but actually what i posted shows his downs arent THAT bad all being above 50. In fact his 3rd worst game this year was essentially average (60 being straight average) against MSU at 59.9. I dont think there's much to sugarcoat on the Auburn, Arkansas games, but at least they believe he wasn't the only reason we struggled offensively in those games. Also in the Arkansas game he missed basically all week that week with the flu and still played (which maybe it should have been Nuss in retrospect and maybe work Daniels in if necessary).
In the end, he just needs to get a little more consistent, not really a lot more

Let me clear this up. There are about a dozen posters on this site that will never acknowledge that black QBs can read a defense. They think the Pick-6 king was better at reading a defense than Jordan Jefferson. They think Nuss throwing a ball up for grabs in double coverage is going through progressions. It is what it is.

That's fricking laughable
regardless of your "YouTube" coaching.
YOU'RE fricking laughable. You're saying no matter WHAT we see from JD, we're wrong and JD knows better, because we don't have the all 22 and the playbook?
Or .... you're saying JD reads defenses just fine, he just "doesn't trust" the read?
Or ... he CAN read defenses, just not on some plays?
Ok, fine. JD is a defense reading motherfricker -- but, sometimes he misses reads and other times he doesn't trust reads, so he's not real effective at passing the ball downfield -- as LSU coaches have stated publicly.
Now, go look through all that and find some NEW way to miss the point.

Joe Burrow has ruined appropriate fan expectations for every quarterback that ever plays for LSU moving forward
