Let’s start off by being honest with ourselves. We’re all idiots on this board. And the idiots united after seeing Daniels at the spring game pulling the ball and running on a lot of his pass attempts.

One thing I think people need to realize is that he had around a month from getting on campus to the spring game. It’s just not enough time to be able to firmly grasp a new playbook. As a result, I think in the spring game he just relied more on his athletic ability as he didn’t feel comfortable with the plays or his reads.

I would be fine with either Nuss or Daniels starting at QB, but I do think a lot of people are making judgements on Daniels from an extremely small sample size where he had a month to get the playbook down and saying that’s who he is. I haven’t watched every game he played but I’ve seen some highlight throws he’s made that are really impressive.

As another post said the other day. Maybe Daniels is just a damn good QB who’s showing out with better talent and coaching around him.

The he had a month narrative as a rebuttal is weak also, he isn't a rookie and if he can't be accurate throwing tte football by now in his career he likely won't. It's ok he's good at what he's good at and I don't think throwing the ball is his strong suit, but who knows maybe will prove me wrong and everyone who thinks that and if he's the permanent starter I hope he does and will root for him.

From The Advocate this morning...
quote:

Daniels, a former four-star prospect out of San Bernadino, California, started three seasons at Arizona State, completing an overally 62.4% of his passes, including a 65.4% completion rate last season.

Spring game summary: 1. Daniels running when defense can't touch the QB. 2. Nuss throwing bombs against no pass rush.

Conclusion: spring games mean nothing.

It’s a new playbook for everyone.

My criticism of Daniels wasn’t that he didn’t know the playbook. It was his inaccuracy, quite a few times over throwing receiver. It’s something you can see in his past film.

If the coaches have fixed this issue though then that’s great. Many reports are saying this is the case.

You realize that all of the quarterbacks were in the same situation right?

The problem with most LSU fans is that they live in a bubble. Most don't give a shite outside of LSU, or the top couple of programs at best. Pac 12 after dark? Most are too drunk and sleep. Arizona St people will tell you it's stupid to say this dude is just a rushing threat who can throw the ball like many LSU fans think. Anybody with some common sense realizes the kid was in a horrible situation at ASU and did what he could. Josh Allen played at Wyoming and his stats were complete crap. He was still projected the #1 overall QB for 2 straight years. Four years into the NFL he is now considered a top 5 QB. Do you know the scouts blamed it out how bad the talent was around him? They said that during his coege playing and during the draft process. Multiple draft people projected Daniels as a top 6-7 QB if he came out AFTER his 10/10 season.

LSU fans are pretty dumb that they take a spring game and a 10/10 season and make up some dumb narrative about the kid. Some win totals at different betting sites went up after the false reports that Daniels was named the starter.

It wasn’t even a game, it was just a scrimmage

I don’t super disagree, very small sample size. But the things he sucked at in the spring game had nothing to do with playbook/knowing the system. He couldn’t make throws(or at least not as well as any of the other 3 QBs) and made worse decisions. And the spring game defense doesn’t run ‘a defense scheme’. It’s a base form with no blitzing.

And for all the ‘he had just gotten there’ comments….so had walker Howard, and he looked fine in the spring game.

Again, overall I agree. SG was way too small a sample size but it still happened.

All of the QB's were new to the system but Jayden was the only one who just finished a full season playing every game.

No need to butter it. I would have to assume that Jayden has improved or Nuss has impressed. But if Jayden is the starter and he starts sailing passes against FSU it will get real rough real fast.

Well, JB said he could learn a playbook in 2 days, so anyone that’s not JB, should know it in a week or 2. I’m not buying your excuse as I wouldn’t have for anyone else.

Agree, he probably won’t magically be an accurate passer in his senior year. All these Daniel’s groupies will be the first ones bitching when he throws an int to lose a game.

Always remember the best QB is always the one on the bench or the one we just signed. This is true for all positions if you have been following the board over the years.
