He was grabbing his knee last night and that’s all I could think about. I mean I think Nuss is serviceable but he’s going to turn the ball over, if his past mistakes continue.

He, like Burrow needs to figure out how to slide and stay safe. If Daniels can improve and start to see the routes and understand the calls better then this team will be very dangerous. The opportunity was there last night to blow the doors open early but this team starts slowly. The oline was struggling early but towards the end they looked like one of the best lines we’ve had in years.

I get so mad thinking about losing to Florida state, we would be top 15 if that didn’t happen. I think we can upset a few teams and I think our defense will be top 3 in the conference and probably will not be tested for a while. Mississippi State’s offense is legit and will give many teams issues and our defense flat out dominated, other than a missed assignment on the run td and we just got beat on the jump ball td (tip your hat and move on). This defense is legit and if Maason was still healthy I would go out on a limb and say they are top in the west (they still may be bc Wingo has been a very pleasant surprise).

Wish he was the highest grader passer

I think his passing is going to improve with Kelly continuing to work with him. The game will slow down to him and he’ll start seeing the field better

I don’t pretend to know much about coaching college football or evaluating talent, but there may be a reason all those other former LSU QBs are starting for other teams or out of football.

I was told by the board that his rushing stats don’t count when evaluating him though

This thread validates their criticism. Not all of them but most. A ton of season left. Probably not a good idea to assume the evaluation is over.

Yeah if you're already up by 3 scores

He's a turnover machine and a huge liability

I’m concerned he won’t make it through the season if he has to keep running that much. Denbrock has to design more short passes into his game plan earlier in the game. I can’t believe he hasn’t figured that out yet.

If he can develop as a better passer, kid's upside is scary
with just moderate passing ability he would be a he is man candidate.

Give Nuss and Howard a half each this next game and go from there.
so this board wants to throw Daniels away for running the ball and give Nuss another chance despite his Southern standout performance

that actually sounds about right. We'd rather someone gunslinging it back there turnovers be damned.

ppl keep saying that and it might come true but our statue of a QB Brennan got broken in half practically and he hardly ever took off.

Everyone on the dang field is susceptible to injury, sheesh

Maybe ask the way smaller reigning Hiesman trophy winner how he did it?

The hits are starting to take their toll though. He's great at running I just don't know how long he'll hold up towards the end of the year.

How exactly are they taking a toll?

A little too lobsided for comfort as far as I'm concerned. He won't make it 1/2 way through the season at that rate. Defenses will PUNISH him in this conference.
Then we get Nussmeier!
2 true freshmen at both tackle positions isn't a solid recipe for JD. I wish he'd get time to progress through reads.
Another thing is that I'd like to see designed roll outs from which he throws. So many scrambles could be long gainers if he could still get the ball off prior to reaching the line of scrimmage.

You're wasting your time with these guys.

I'm convinced they've made up their minds and closed the book.

They keep saying he's inaccurate despite completing 70% of his passes this year.

They keep saying he's a 3 year starter so he is what he is, despite him showing tremendous improvement each game. They don't even care to notice his improvement. They don't care to notice how much more patient he was in the pocket on Saturday night. How he was almost always looking to throw when he broke contain before tucking and running.

They keep saying he takes off when his first read isn't there despite 3 games worth of evidence that this simply isn't true.

Honestly, I don't think anything Jayden Daniels does this year will satisfy these guys. He's simply not the style of quarterback they want leading LSU and it's a damn shame. He's a gamer, he's tough and he's very effective.

He does, indeed, need to get a little more air under his throws. Defenders will defend the darts easier.
We are not seeing a vertical attack which troubles me. We MUST have a vertical threat or D's will feast on short game.
