There are 4-5 coaches in the SEC better than JJ.

Based on what? Feelings

These next few years will validate where he stands.. should be fun
He is already validated. There are 2 coached in the entire country with multiple national titles and jay is one of them.

Then why don't they have multiple national titles?
You've proven yourself a fricking retard.
You're not a lsu fan.

quote:LOL. The grass is always greener. Vitello always seemed more focused on regular season results than post season. Tennessee's super regional choke in 2022, when the Vols were 56-7 before losing to Notre Dame, is one of the epic fails in the history of college baseball.
I thought Vitello was a better coach for instance when he was still in the sec.

More than that. A true measure of a coach is how they do without MLB picks on the team. Jay Johnson gets an F.
Anyone can win with LSU resources.
To actually have a bad team with LSU resources is a colossal failure

He’s won 2 national championships in 4 years here. This is year 5. Newest incoming portal class failed miserably. I trust he can fix it. Everybody take it easy.
He’s not some flash in the pan. He had incredible success at Arizona before us. And delivered us 2023 and 2025. Yes sadly It’s a down year … yes it sucks… but I trust he can fix it … and very quickly
… and GEAUX Tigers

The two Ncs jay has proves he’s a top tier coach yes I agree there. I’m saying the next few years will validate if he is “the best.” I think there are about 5-7 guys who are very good. Many 9f these guys would have a ton of success at LSU. And as far as Vitello. He has a .590 career sec record vs .540 sec record for Johnson and that’s taking into consideration his first year where he went 12-18 to build up a completely shite program. Comparing Tenn baseball to lsu baseball is like comparing Kentucky basketball to lsu basketball which makes what Vitello did even more impressive. Winning it all is obviously hard to do and Jay has done it twice. But it also takes a little luck to win it all. He has yet to prove he can build consistent program year in and year out at LSU. I’d expect the “best coach” to be more consistent. I think you are the one who bases his judgement on feelings and biases.

Ppl forget how bad the Tenn program was without him. It’s not the same level as LSU. Also it takes some luck to win it all. You lose 2 games and you are out which means the best team doesn’t always win. Johnson’s a terrific tourney coach but is that a repeatable thing idk. What is more controllable is being a consistent team every year.

Is that the measure because you say so? What team in the SEC is being successful without MLB picks? Lol this is up there for retarded posts of the year. Kudos for the laugh.

I see your point, but strategy absolutely plays a part in the equation to success in the tourney. You think DVH has failed to win it by pure being unlucky? We’d have to agree to disagree.

You mean a program that won 4 NCs and has been to 19 cws and is objectively a top 10-15 program in the sport? Oh yeah that’s the same as a perennial conference bottom feeder.
Posted on 4/18/26 at 8:59 pm to TigerMac81
Twelve more wins, to reach the level of Smoke's worst campaign, would guarantee an NCAA Tournament bid and a winning record in SEC play. Not impossible but extremely unlikely

quote:They won the conference 3 times during skips dynasty years…. But sure “bottom feeder”. Put some respect on Rod Delmonico name. If you want consistency go root for DVH or Sully’s teams…. They still have less titles than Jay Johnson.

There are two coach in all of college baseball with multiple national titles. Jay Johnson is one of them. That proves he is the best coach in college baseball.

There are ZERO HCs that would choose less national titles for a better conference record. The fact that you're insinuating that is wild to me. As if Vitello wouldn't trade Jay Johnson that sec record for the 2025 natty. You're reaching.

Like winning 2 national titles in his 4 year career at lsu?
Name these coaches that aren't having bad years. Skip finished 5th in sec and didn't make it out of a regional dead in the middle of his run and that was when 8 programs cared about baseball.

That poster legit said vitello having a slightly better sec record is more impressive than JJ having more NC. You can tell the posters that just love to shite on lsu hcs.
