He certainly got bailed out tonight in this capacity.

didn’t he and Milazzo come in in the same year

No. Milazzo was in the same class with Crews and Morgan

Yeah, they moved him to left field at Alabama. He hasn't played catcher in awhile

Hindsight and all. We let him walk and he really wasn’t that good at Bama last year. He would have rode the pine behind Hernandez and had to battle with Bide to get any time. Who’s to say he makes it to this year if he had been here last season?

I would love to see him be replaced this offseason.

Last really defensive catcher we had was Milazzo.

What are you talking about? Hernandez was a good defensive catcher last year.

Yamin has actually looked really good defensively when given the opportunity.

i am not a coach but from my non professional eyes, Yamin appears the best of our catchers and is a decent hitter, but seldom plays

That’s being kind. He hit .219 last year, actually significantly worse than his last year at LSU. He finally turned things around this year in his 4th year of college baseball. He was simply a bad hitter his first 3 years

Hard to tally up passed balls playing right field.

Brady Neal walked and we won a championship. Poppy was our catcher and was damn good.

I’ve seen balls dropped that hit right in the catcher’s glove. Many, many times. That should never happen. Sorry, our catchers suck

If Brady Neal is here last year we don’t win a National Championship. We don’t get Hernandez. Neal was bad last year (hit .219) and Hernandez was clutch throughout last season.

And won a national championship the next year with his replacement. That probably doesn’t happen if we kept Neal, because he wasn’t staying without the guarantee.

Hernandez was a decent catcher. That’s it.

Yamin has looked good in very limited roles. Hopefully he gets to play more going forward.

Milazzo was a GD stud defensive catcher with a weak bat.

Yeah, we had runner in first w no outs and batter gets a scorching hit to the RF corner. Our runner on first got all the way to second base. Unbelievable. The runner ended up scoring so coach was bailed out.

I believe the coach was running scared based on JJ quote from the previous night about making first or third out at 3b. Even the coaches are stressed out and it’s affecting their play.

Isn't Serna your normal catcher? Why was Cade catching in our series with you? Has catching been an issue all season? Cade has had a few issues in the first 2 games. Only reason I ask.

Even the Pro scouts were wrong we signed the #1 Catchers in back to back years.

Cade was #1 but he’s been defensively bad enough and Cerna has been good enough that they have kind of leveled out together now.

So today it’s pretty much interchangeable…two mediocre guys.

On the field, Serna has overtaken Cade in my opinion, but not enough for real separation between the two.
