Smart certainly has the talent to be a really good player, his decision making process was questionable. At certain times he was dead set on shooting no matter how open other players were or dead set on passing no matter how good of a shot he had.

Yup, that was irony watching him play. Smart made really dumb decisions

Ran with him and some other athletes including TDP on the levee. He couldn't do a push up to save his life but he beat everyone up to the top every time. Great motor

But the post I was responding to said the Pels needed a defensive-minded guard.

And If you want to win championships your going to at least have to play defense better than most.

Yeah, I couldn’t do the math either. Saying he ran across the cour and made a three nearly every 2 seconds is insane. I think that’s what he did. Basically running across and shooting before the previous ball even makes it in.

Right, I guess some of them coukd have been 2’s *shrug*.

He was top 4 in the SEC in assist to turnover ratio the last 2 seasons. He was more efficient scoring the ball and running the offense than both Skylar Mays and Tremont Waters. Just because you don’t like the style doesn’t mean he made bad decisions.

He was supposed to be better at running the offense compared to those two.

Smart is a solid shooter, he has the sweet floater.

With the way he works he going to get better, IMO. If he falls to the 2nd round he's going to be a steal.

Last season, with Smart at the controls, was the highest scoring offense we’ve had under Wade. Plus he wasn’t originally a point guard, he was a 2 guard who had to convert to being a point. Those other 2 guys were true point guards from the get go.

He still needs work with his ball handling ability but he has easy NBA range, he’s got a great first step and he finishes in traffic with a variety of shots. The expanded space in the NBA should benefit a player like Javonte.
