Here's my post:
BTJ clocked in the fastest speed in NFL this year at over 22 mph. Malik and Jayden are probably 1 & 2 right now for NFLROY.
How did the program let the defense get like this, specifically the DBs? Was it really losing Corey Raymond?

Who would hire Kerry Cooks and Robert Steeples? Kerry Cooks may be the worst DB coach in football history. And the sick thing is, Kelly was well aware of this. He fired him for incompetence at ND.

Because BK ran off our defensive backfield and replaced CR with a high school coach

BK didn't retain Blake Baker.
BK hired Pennywise House as DC.
BK didn't retain Oneofus.Raymond.
BK hired Robert Steeples (With only HS coaching experience) and Kerry Cooks.
BK hired Jimmy Lindsey, (Not a great hire to start with) then didn't bring in anybody with DL experience to replace him when he had to leave because of health problems. Had to bring in Pete Jenkins in a desperate panic move to salvage the DL.
Bristish (Irish) Knight made some bad hiring decisions there. Still trying to recover...........

CBK should be given full credit for the offense last year. Best in CFB, That's the kind of things you expect from a HC with 30+ years experience.
OTOH, CBK gets full-blame for the train wreck on D last year. That's not what is expected of a HC with 30+ years of HC experience.

It really is absurd to think we would have had 2019 twice in a span of 4 years if we fielded an average defense

The difference is that Kelly followed his mistake up with hiring arguably the best defensive staff in the country.

Agreed, It wasn't not retaining Raymond, I have no issue with that at all. It's not hiring a good replacement for him. That's on Kelly.
