FWIW, the Padres have the 3rd largest bonus pool and the Reds have the largest.

Yes it is taken from the pool only if they go over the 100,000. It's not considered part of the pool because no one is given 4,000,000 to spend in rounds 11-40 it's just what is allowed. That's what I meant, I didn't explain it well. Some teams only have a bonus pool of 2.2 million for 1-10 and for extras in the late round, which means it's physically impossible to pay every 11-40 the 100,000. That's why it isn't included in the bonus pool. So if they give him 200 then they take 100 from the pool. But the 100,000 is assumed. The padres had 4 picks on day one, it's going to be very hard to sign everyone.

Pretty douche thing to speak for Poche like that. This will likely be one of the hardest decisions he has in his life, and for you to make a blanket statement like that is bullshite. Whatever he does is the correct decision, he can't go wrong either way IMO.

You can hear him screaming from way back in left field every game. He loves him some "Jake".

No. You're saying it correctly sometimes and incorrectly in others. That 2.2MM is for the first 10 rounds, but they can pay up to $100k for every pick in the later rounds and it has no effect, one way or the other, on the $2.2MM. However, if they want to pay a guy $200k, like you said, then the $100k above the "free" $100k comes from the $2.2MM.

Assuming they've got 30 picks between the 11th and 40th rounds, they can theoretically sign every kid for $100k and that $3MM doesn't count against their bonus. The difference is that if they sign a guy for $50k, they don't get to use the savings towards someone else, like they can in the first 10 rounds.

A rotation of Lange/Latz/Poche would be one of the best in LSU history.

If Latz strengthens and develops this fall LSU would have 3 big time starters. Something no LSU team really ever has.

He will return based on that pick. He may have even indicated that he was leaning to return.

Well, since KRob told the whole team he was, it wasn't exactly a bad assumption.

Dear Jared:
San Diego is polluted, they have ugly women, and the food and weather suck. My advice to you is to stay at LSU another year, and see if you can improve your lot for next year. I am only trying to look out for your best interests. You're welcome.

Maybe, but being picked in the 14th is no better or worse than the 11th or 20th.
