that places this play squarely on LSU’s Mount Rushmore of individual plays?

ITs not even on the Mt Rushmore from that game lol

Queen Int
TD to Clyde before half
Thad toe tap TD
Shoe top catch, get off me 1st down

this OP is bizarre.

The game started with such a "goddamit, Bama is just going to traipse down the field and win" vibe - but then Tua miraculously fumbled. And then just a few plays later, this Chase TD.

Exactly. It felt like luck that Tua fumbled and the defense wasn't going to be able to stop them...Then LSU steam rolled 92 yards with little resistance capped off with a play that made one of their "all world" DB's look silly and Chase dancing in the endzone. At that point EVERYONE, LSU, Alabama, the fans of each team, Brad and Gary, knew this one is going to be different.

LSU has had a lot of great wins over the years, but I don't know if ANY have been that satisfying.

We hadn’t scored a TD on them in over 5 quarters and it had been years since we even took a lead on them.

After 2015 I think We were all nervous our offense would just disappear against Alabama.

Rolling down field and scoring like we had done all season was huge.

Given all the trouble we'd had scoring on them, I'd say it was. Pretty big tone-setter.

The TD right before half after Queen's interception...33-13 at half!

That whole sequence was unbelieveable. Clyde goes over the top for a TD, then Queen gets the pick, and then CEH gets another TD. After that sequence I think every LSU fan was like:

You dont get "single play Mt Rushmore" for being a tone-setter lol.

Bluegrass Miracle is a single play Rushmore
Warren Morris is a single play Rushmore.

Hell...even 3&17 has a case.

A first qtr TD in a game that had a shite ton of TDs isnt even CLOSE lol. Regardless of the context.

If that’s the arguement tell me how Joe’s TD vs UGA isn’t the single greatest TD in LSU history?

Hell, give me LF7’s TD vs Auburn where he tricked multiple guys.

Context matters.

Big plays in big games in big seasons mean more.

I rewatched that yesterday. Between the Thad Moss sideline catch and CEH receiving TD, something like 1:05 passed on the game clock. That has to be the most exciting minute in LSU history.

Im not sure how this helps the Ja'Marr Chase TD.

It was neither the most impactful TD or best TD scored.

"tone-setter" is such a low bar for such a high mark.

- Cannon Punt Return
- Hodson to Fuller
- Lionel Turner sack of Jason White to basically clinch the 2003 Title
- Chase over Diggs on the first drive vs Bama

Clyde had so many great plays that game. 2 of my favorite plays
- his first run of the game
- the last run of the game

- the TD before the half, I was screaming all kinds of FUs outside on my porch!

Top Plays in LSU history

An underrated win in LSU History came vs UGA in 2018.
Those smug Georgia frickers filed into Baton Rouge and Tiger Stadium to paint Tiger Stadium "red" while making a statement win en route to the CFB Playoffs. They may have set a record for visiting fans in Tiger Stadium.

But this failed fake FG set the tone for the game and is one of my favorite plays I've ever seen in person.
I'll never forget Blankenship running out there just to see Delpit squared up on his arse.
Even though Delpit uncharacteristically fell down, he tripped Blankenship up and we got the stop.

No mention of Bert Jones to Brad Davis vs OM in '72 w/ 1s on the clock and down 10-16?

Cade York's walk off FG vs Auburn in '18.

Tyrann made so many as well.

Anything by CEH vs Bama in '19. What a game.

Hester vs UF in'07.

We have a rich football heritage.

We would have also accepted "Leonard Fournette murdering that guy from A&M" and "Leonard Fournette murdering that guy from Ole Miss".

I absolutely agree. That play, to use a basketball metaphor, took the lid off the can for us
after an 8 yr scoring deficiency problem...

I give Burrow and Chase equal credit on that play though. It would be an interesting question to Burrow as to whether that throw was underthrown accidentally or on purpose.

I was at the game in BDS and when Burrow hit Chase for the seemingly effortless TD after just threading a perfect strike to Chase down the sideline the Bama fans went into "Oh shite - Joe is hot today" mode.

They really got nervous when Joe hit Marshall for an easy walk in TD a few series later...
