some were some weren't. some were rookies some weren't. they all put up similar ratings to JR.
sorry if that gets in the way of your rant.

This is a reply to the OP.

Since no one posted this excerpt from his link:

quote:

Even though much was made of JaMarcus Russell holding a passing camp on his own time, it turns out only four youngsters showed up. This was supposed to be a big step toward Russell becoming a leader, but none of his main wide receivers or tight ends made the trip to Alabama. There are still overwhelming doubts about the former No. 1 overall pick's attitude heading into his battle with Jeff Garcia.

Yes, showing up to camp looking like a fat-assed middle aged fan, or Doug Williams at age 45, rather than a starting NFL QB does not reflect well on him at all.

He was a stud at LSU no doubt.

But his lack of professionalism (hey these guys don't have 9-5 like the rest of us - and if I can find 4 hrs a week to work out, why can't he?) He should have a trainer and a chef, and be working his arse off in the off-season. Looks like to me Garcia has been working hard, and probably will win the job.

That's ridiculous and the guy who said he is a poor ambassador for LSU: +1

It's all about work ethic and professionalism.

Garcia puts our boy to shame and I really hate to say that.

Chiefs coach Todd Haley confirmed that Dwayne Bowe reported to the team overweight and says the third-year receiver needs to lose "20-25 pounds."
this means he's lazy, immature, unintelligent, doesn't give a shite .. . am I missing any?

ETA: a poor ambassador for LSU and has a poor work ethic.

Let's hear the excuses. Just fill in the blank below.

It's okay for Dwayne Bowe to show up 25 lbs overweight because _______________________.

Maybe, you're not too smart??

"Dwayne...let himself go too far in the offseason so it’s been a long road back," Haley said. it's not much of a concern as long as Bowe's in shape by camp.

It's a problem if Bowe is not in shape BY CAMP. Didja see that part? Guess what? Its camp time. Is JR in shape? Its a problem.

Think man. You have the the #1 drafted, franchise QB on your roster but in the off-season you sign not 1, not 2, not 3, but FOUR QBs, and then your $60 dollar franchise QB shows up like the Hindenburg. Dont you think Al Davis knew what JR was doing. Dont you think he said "bring in a go to guy, because JRs not going to cut it?" Why else would they even be talking to FOUR different QBs?

oh i saw it and it doesn't change what i said. bowe didn't take care of his body in the offseason and gained 25 lbs. he went through OTAs fat as frick because he didn't care, was unprofessional etc.

so he brought in Southwick, Gradkowski and Frye to be the "go to guy"? or maybe Al knew he was going to release andrew walter and brought in these guys to battle for the No. 3 position. Do you really think that Gradkowski or Frye have a chance in hell at starting for this or any other NFL team?

You are pretty stupid.

a WR being overweight is much more problematic than a QB being overweight.

You are right. Slow wide receivers don't make it long in the league.

Try to stay up skippy. Bowe is not the franchise player. Bowe has been in conditioning for 6 wks now. Obviously JR hasnt.

Haley said. “I tried to stress that was going to be important to me and to us and that it’s going to be important they come to camp in shape. That’s part of what’s changed in the game.

Before, when you had five- or six-week training camps, guys could afford to come in out of shape and practice their way back into condition. Now, you need to come into camp in shape and ready to go. That way, we’ll have the chance to practice efficiently every day

I agree but Bowe has proven that he an NFL player.
If you keep up with the Raiders, you know that HC Cable has been begging JR to show leadership and take control of the offense. Not showing up for the last practice and then coming in out of shape doesn't indicate that JR cares. It appears that a lot of fans have more interest in his success than he does.

LINK

"Throughout practice, however, Russell often took a knee well away from teammates. He looked as bored as anyone. He certainly didn't ooze any leadership charisma."

I hope his laid back appearnce is not indicative of his love of the game. He has a lot to offer if he takes control and hones his abilities.

Its apparent that there are some here that are just plain hateful towards JR rather than just expressing criticism.

I mean heck, you have to spend 5+ post in a single thread to bash a former tiger b/c he came to camp overweight??

JR has started 16-17 games.
He showed a lot of promise in his last three leading the Raiders to 2 wins.
49/78 63% 626yds 6tds/2int.

I say wait until the season starts and see how he performs before you feel like you need to nonstop bash the guy.

what a ridiculous suggestion.

i heard JR blew his nose at camp today VERY uncharismatically and nonchalantly threw away the tissue but Garcia sneezed, blew his nose and was like "frick YEAH! WHO'S THE MAN HUH? GARCIA'S THE MAN! THIS BALL A' SNOT AIN'T GOT shite ON ME!" and then proceeded to set the kleenex on fire. His teammates clapped and shite. Based on this I think we all know who the starting QB for the Raiders should be. Its obvious.

Concession #1- JR was one of the best QB's ever at LSU both statistically and athletically.
#2- JR was placed in a lousy situation in Oakland, and his holdout made his rookie year a veritible redshirt year.
#3- Statistically he did well last year and athletically still has great talents.
BUT...
When you read about other NFL players doing insane 5 to 6 hour workouts in the off-season- pulling tires up hills, 30 kg kettlebell/medicine ball workouts, working out with MMA guys; and then you see JR show up flabby-it sends a message to his teammates.
The message :"I am not as dedicated as you, I don't treat this as a profession like you do, and I'm coasting on my natural abilities."
If anyone else ever played sports and had a teammate like this you know what I'm talking about. It creates dissention and just plum looks bad. I wish JR the best of luck and hope he does well but this doesn't get my hopes up at all.

Post an img of a $60 mil contract on here with your signature on it, and it'll change my mind about how much success I think JR will have
