Russell didn't crow about this being his team, but rather took an unselfish approach to the quarterback derby, perhaps too unselfish an approach.

Said Russell: "We all for the same team. If he going to push me to do my best, and if he do better than me that week, I'm going to be his biggest cheerleader. But we all for the same team. I wish him the best with whatever happens."

Whatever happens? Yo, the only thing you should expect to happen is that you break out in your third season, and second as the Raiders starter

He showed a lot of promise in his last three leading the Raiders to 2 wins, once he finally got into shape.

There ... I fixed it for you. Just imagine if he showed up to camp in game shape! He might actually be able to focus on learning the pro game instead of trying to get into shape.

Will this guy ever get it? "I'm probably a little heavy," Russell acknowledged. "But I'm not 300 pounds like you all said last year." That's too bad, because the Raiders needed a left tackle to protect Jeff Garcia's blind side.Source: Jerry McDonald on Twitter

As soon as the Raiders signed Jeff Garcia, Jamarcus should have figured out that he needs to be at his best for training camp. I'd like to know the Vegas odds that Jamarcus is starting for the Raiders Week 10. I'm pulling for the guy, but this doesn't look good.

Good point, which I've made before. If J.R. dicks around thinking he's going to be the man because of the money/attention he got, he's out of the league in a few short years. Garcia was a message to him.... I only hope that he understands it and gets in gear.

JR doesn't care about showing up and performing. He got his money and that's all he cares about.

Last I heard on the radio on Friday 274, when he showed up for conditioning drills he looked like Al Bundy running the 40 yd dash.

Flynn will have just as big of an impact in the NFL as Russell will.

Read what Jim Brown said about J.R. in this week's issue of The Sporting News with the interview he did with Adrian Peterson...He thinks all Rookies should report to training camp where they won't be behind...You get PAID but you still are behind on the football field and that's what you will be remembered for...

russell had a bigger impact than flynn will ever have when he stepped on the field and threw his first pass as a starter

The Raiders will never recover the money they have invested in J.R. I do not blame him for signing and taking the money, but another bad for the team and "Raida Nation"....IMHO

"It's hard for anyone to imagine the pressure that he has to go through of being the No. 1 pick," said Henderson, who entered the NFL in the same draft class as Russell. "I can be sitting at home watching TV and hear that JaMarcus hasn't done this, he hasn't done that. People don't know that he has made such great strides since coming into the league; it's amazing."

All this off season noise is just that. noise. we'll see what he does in between the lines this year and either me or a bunch of other people are going to be eating some crow.

Sorry to drag this thread back into the light, but I found this on a Chargers forum and I felt compelled to post it:
