The same Favre that retires to get out of practicing and the off the field work required to get better, and even admitted as such? That Farve? So you and many others that "hate" on Jamarcus might give Farve a free pass for being a gunslinger that doesn't have the best attitude about off the field work? Then you critisize Jamarcus even though he continues to improve on the field... That just shows that you and others have some kind of non-football related dislike of an LSU alum, even while he works on being more successful. And that is a shame.
As much as many people on this board are irritated by Favre (myself included), never compare Favre's work ethic to Jamarcus. Jamarcus shows up all out of shape and Favre never missed a game his entire career....yeah, Favre and Jamarcus are pretty similar. And why do you care if people are critical of him? Of course people are gonna be like that on him...he was the first pick and got paid a lot of money, so people expected more out of him so far.

what would the opinion be on this board if Flynn was the starter in Green Bay and this news came out? Hmmm
Someone already called you Al Sharpton, so I'll spare you that. Thing is, would Flynn show up like this? I doubt it. Jamarcus has much more talent than Flynn, but at least Flynn shows up to play

TC, c'mon I know you not comparin a future HOF to someone just starting out?
If you pay attention, I didn't start the comparison.
Brett Favre was used as an example of an anti-Jamarcus. Favre is a future hall of famer, but he is a gun slinger. He isn't the guy who's drive makes him do all the little things on and off the field correctly.
That someone would use Favre as an anti-Jamarcus shows how football fans let their personal opinions on QB personalities cloud their judgment.

What did people expect out of him? For a first year starting QB, and given the state of the team, he had a solid year last year statistically. Critical is one thing, but for fans to be unfairly critical of an alum of the school they claim to support, that's another matter entirely.
If Jamarcus doesn't continue to progress this year with all that talent he has, it would be more than fair to call him out on it. But as long as he progresses on the field, that is all it should take to have support from LSU fans.

I still think he'll produce this year; no bullshite. All this outside chatter won't count for shite when the season starts. This is just content for the preseason because there isn't shite else going on right now.

Just because a guy is from the college you support doesn't mean you have to like him.

Agreed, but to think someone from your favorite school is worse than they are, just because you don't like their personality or exact style of play, is pretty lame.

as a junior he completes 68% of his passes for over 3,000 yards and a 3.5 to 1 TD/INT ratio and that isn't good enough?
He'll complete > 60% of his throws this year with the Raiders and have a better overall year statistically than last year. He'll progress just like he did at LSU.

Never said I didn't like him. His work ethic always bothered me, but you can get away with that in college. In the NFL, you can't. Might be catching up to him
FWIW, he definitely isn't my favorite LSU player, but I don't hate him

He's never won a single championship and probably never will.

Yeah. it really pisses me off that PITT didn't beat WVU in JaMarcus' junior year enabling the 7th ranked Tigers to leapfrog a shite ton of teams and get to the NCG.
Stupid JaMarcus and his same regular season record and far better numbers!!!

Jamarcus is the most hated/disliked Tiger in recent memory. Every freaking thread that is started about him ALWAYS end up being super negative. When he was a Tiger, what did he do to make you idiots hate him so much? Win? Represent the university with class? Stay out of trouble? Become the 1st Pick in the NFL draft? Help with Katrina? Stay out of trouble during and post LSU? Lead us to a Sugar bowl win and a #2 final ranking after his JR year; setting up the Championship run? Have a ridiculous QB rating?
The only thing that I can think of is one of two things:
1. Jealousy
2. Race
As much as I try not to bring number 2 into the question, it just amazes me that one of the top 2 or 3 Quarterbacks in the HISTORY of LSU football has such a negative image among some LSU supporters and all they want to do is wish that he is unsuccessful so they can feed their feeble minded egos. Frick you haters!

I think more than that, people just don't like the personality that Jamarcus projects. Lots of people like their QB's to look like/act like good ole boys. (And for the record, I think a white QB is capable of not projecting that and a black QB is capable of being that.)
People loved Brett Favre who looked like a kid off the farm that you can have a beer with, 'cause he was. People hated a guy like Jim Everett who looked and acted aloof with a chip on his shoulder.

I understand your point, but it just seems to be more than that to me. I mean every time a thread is started it is this way. We all have likes and dislikes and qualities etc. that we like to see in our QBs. I am an equal opportunity critic of LSU QBs, players, and coaches. But it just seems to me, that there is a little more venom when it come JR and it rubs me the wrong way. Did I criticize him at LSU? Yes? I am still mad at him, Jimbo, and Miles for that Auburn fiasco a few years ago. It not about me thinking he is above criticism, I just think it is very excessive here.

GeauxTigerTM, this was not meant for you. We are on the same page on this. My bad.

This is A LOT of it.
JR has/had a way about him that never seemed rushed...never seemed like he was trying a ton. I never saw that as a negative...just the way he moved on the field. He throws came so easy for him that at times he looked like he wsn't trying.
I think he gets unfairly criticized for sure. He QB'ed the team through that awful 2005 season after the hurricanes and sTILL was in the NC discussion near the end of the season. If you remember, LSU was 11-1 and in the SECCG. Had some other things happened to help with SC or Texas (like they did in 2007) and LSU hadn't run out of gas against UGA they could have ended up playing in the NCG. Instead, they got drummed by UGA, JR got hurt and LSU went on to destroy Miami. Anyone dissappointed with 2005 given what we all went through is a damn fool.
In 2006 he had almost no running game, and the only two losses on the season were on the road to what were Top 5 teams at the time. The first was winnable until the shitty PI reversal call against Early DESPITE Jimbo tying Russell's hands all game...and LSU simply lost compuse to a very solid (and eventual NC) Florida team. Unfortunately in 2006, 2 losses didn't get to Atlanta but it was good enough to earn a BCS birth where JR assraped ND.
The guy went 22-4 as a starter in his final two seasons with an SECCG appearance after the hurricane season in 2005 and a BCS game slaughtering of ND in 2006 and because he wasn't under center when the TEAM achieved some championship goals...he's a goat.
Idiotic...
