No. There is no moral, because there is no story. If he sucks in an actual game, then we can talk.

You guys can downvote me all you want. I know he won the Biletnikoff and had 20 TDs due to him only catching deep balls, but in terms of a pure all-around receiver I always thought he was 3rd on the 2019 team.

This is the most tigerdroppings-esque comment ever.

I can’t help it that you don’t know why he didn’t play. He would have missed over half of the season. I’m not making an excuse for him because I also didn’t like what he did.

They did 7 on 7 today and burrow threw a dime and Ja’Marr dropped it and it was picked by the DB.

Oh wow then he definitely should have played last year!

I love the Joe to Jamar connection but it’s going to be obvious very soon that the Bengals fricked up by taking Jamar over Sewell

Sewell is having a bit of an adjustment period himself right now at Right Tackle for the Lions

This is the first I've heard of this; but if it's true, it was actually the best business decision for him.

Everyone basically knows at this point that if you miss extended time at LSU, it's probably for drugs. So if he was going to miss 5-6 games, it was smarter for him to let the league think he was opting out for COVID rather than suspension. The game rust is a consequence, but a multi-game suspension would have hurt his draft status much more.

Is no one going to bring up that Devonta Smith had 3-5 drops on his own preseason debut and that maybe there’s no actual correlation or evidence that any of this matters to their performance or eventual success?

Hush up! You are making too much sense. This is the rant!

Cody Garbrant (UFC fighter) who has great cardio said he wasn’t able to run or ride his typical amount of miles because of the rona. He said this lasted for several months after he had it too.

Chase will have a great NFL career, especially with the advantage of catching balls again from Joe. This is what I hate about hype, too much expectations too soon, etc. Part of that stems from misleading non-Combine 40 times, over use of social media, etc. The kid needs time to adjust, and he will. The "quitting" thing is another conversation, this is about unrealistic expectations and needing time to adjust to the NFL talent.

Just an outrageously bad take right here. Just go a couple threads up and watch Joe's TDs from 2019-2020. Not going to disagree that JJets was just as good and there is an argument that he was a better wideout, which he may very well prove to be.

However, Jamar's ability to high point and manipulate corner backs was ridiculous. In fact, i've only gotten through the Auburn game on the above referenced video, and out of the 7-10 TDs he has at that point, only 1 would be considered a traditional "deep ball" where he just ran under caught and ran.

You should just hit reset and start your week over.

Ryan Clark made him quit.

If the weed thing that people are saying in this thread is true, I can absolutely see Clark telling him to opt out over COVID instead of taking the suspension. Chase would definitely have looked rusty trying to come in week 6 or 7 off of suspension and play.

People will come on here and tell you that Chase was slow, had bad hands, couldn’t run routes and was a one trip pony who only caught deep balls (despite being slow and not being able to run routes)

Ja'Marr Chase signed a 4 year, $30,819,641 contract with the Cincinnati Bengals, including a $19,774,284 signing bonus, $30,819,641 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $7,704,910.

A stroke of a pen and $20 mil guaranteed is really going to dissuade players from opting out. If anything it’ll provide the blueprint for stud athletes in the future. If you upset some grown up white men who worship teenagers in the process, so be it
