id has had a slow start in training camp and is now looking rough in preseason.

He has 3 drops all on 3rd down 2 of which that would have been 1st downs. Here’s a quote from the young man.

quote:
The first couple of days I wasn’t doing so well. Of course. I kept pushing forward.

Me sitting out that year, I’m not going to be so fast getting back to my normal self. It’s all mental. It’s all mental right now.”

I love the player and I’m very grateful for what he did but the bengals didn’t draft you top 5 for you to take your time getting right and shaking off rust.

Moral of the story- don’t quit. You’re a ball player. Play ball.

I hope he gets it together for Joes sake.

Well Jamar's life is his to live, not mine not yours. So whatever the consequences of him not playing last year are relative to his Rookie season is on him or benefits for being one year less banged up is also on him.

Ja'Marr Chase will be fine this year and all the haters will shut up and wait for another reason to complain.

You guys can downvote me all you want. I know he won the Biletnikoff and had 20 TDs due to him only catching deep balls, but in terms of a pure all-around receiver I always thought he was 3rd on the 2019 team.

Not a popular opinion on this board but O definitely got lazy and lost his edge. By the time he got it back it was too late. O is definitely feeling the pressure right now.

Is no one going to bring up that Devonta Smith had 3-5 drops on his own preseason debut and that maybe there’s no actual correlation or evidence that any of this matters to their performance or eventual success?

Y'all are pitiful.

It was the best decision a college athlete has ever made in regards to his pro career. The draft proved that.

At the time he made his decision, multiple big conferences weren't even going to play at all. Ended up being a pointless, asterisk joke of a season where only a dozen teams even tried.

But keep screaming on the internet about people being quitters because you're disappointed about your own lives.

Get drafted top 5, get fricking paid, avoid injury, and get a season to relax and chill instead of busting your balls for a sub par team and risking your draft stock

OP dumb AF and stupid spoiled fan. Chase didn’t owe any of you shite after 2019, move the frick on

Marshall was your best receiver before the injury at Vanderbilt.

Before the Vandy game LSU had 3 games, Northwestern State- Texas - and Georgia State.

Chase didn’t play in the Northwestern Game and their stats are nearly identical in that range outside of the TD numbers (which Marshall got 5 off of Northwestern State and Georgia southern)

Now if you want to compare their first 3 games of that season, which would be a bit unfair to Chase since his first 3 games included 2 P5 teams and Marshall only played 1, then Chase outperformed him by 4 catches and nearly 100 yards (against stiffer competition overall)

So first of all, your overall conclusion is dumb. But even if Marshall vastly outperformed him in that stretch, using a 2 or 3 game sample size to try to make that argument would be incredibly stupid

Marshall only performed as well as Chase in those games bc teams were doubling Chase

Not gonna disagree but Marshall caught the ball over the middle plenty in 2019. Plus all 3 receivers were blessed to have the other two around. But I think Chase will be fine.

I’m aware that I don’t live his life.

I’m also aware that his decision to quit could effect future tigers and we should be in their ear telling them- look, it isn’t a good decision quit if you have a good sophomore year.

Jamar himself said he’s having a mental battle with the game right now. Something about quitting on your team and sitting out seems incredibly soft and it’s actively effecting his psyche.

I think he shakes it off but he looked scared of contact and he’s struggling in practice.

That’s not the Jamar we saw in 2019 and I think if he played that’s not the Jamar we would be seeing right now

Don’t be so sensitive. It’s a football forum and we’re taking football. If you can’t control your emotions I would recommend chess or some other activity.

I quoted what Chase himself said and now your mad at me and I have a pathetic life?

I’m gonna go back to the beach now. I sincerely hope whatever has you acting like a pussy stops and you can act like a grown up in the future

Didn’t really work out for Smith, which did play and similarly struggled in his preseason debut.

I hope chase gets together.

But like he said- taking that year off is hurting him now.

I’ll always be a fan of Ja’Marr Chase but I will never be a fan of what he did last season. It sets a terrible precedent. It will be interesting to see how he progresses this season, I have to think with sitting out a year of football you won’t just throw the rust off in a matter of a few weeks. It’s going to take a lot of time, couple in the fact the difference between going from college to the NFL, it’s a steep learning curve.

I love how the people who call Chase “selfish” are only pissed off bc he quit on “their team”
and caused “their team” to not be as good and hurt their feelings.

Jamarr is just going through normal rookie adjustments to the NFL. He will be fine. His freak athleticism and ball skills did not go away. He spent all last year working on his skills, not sitting on his arse. He’s just in his head a bit right now as are most rookies. Give him time and he will show why he’s one of the best ever to play at LSU.
