Livingston was amazing. Oh, what could have been.

Feel bad for Reed. Tough breaks. Wish him some good luck!

I was talking with a local old basketball head and I didn’t realize Newman had recruited Livingston out of the Calliope Projects.

As a kid my father took me to watch Livingston play Neil Reed (East Jefferson / Indiana) and it was quite the treat. Livingston ate his lunch that night, end the game with a steal & a dunk.

I really feel for Jalen, good kid who made a commitment to LSU because LSU made a commitment to him and stuck with him.

But Randy Livingston was a superstar - who was on par with Jason Kidd coming out of high school or rated even higher by many. I'd love to have Reed, but in terms of what could have or might have been Livingston was on a whole different level.

Randy was a Beast. Dude was smooth as butter in HS. Was scorekeeping a game Newman played. He spent most of the game setting up his teammates. 2nd half other team closed to about 4-6pts and RL steals the ball 3 straight trips with 2 ending in monster dunks and the other being a 3. Ball game over and he went back to letting others score. He finished the game with something like 36, 12 Reb, 16 assists, 8 steals. Really was something to watch live. Hate that he got hurt, he would have been a Superstar.

Griffith or Griffin I think. Went to King High right after Jamie Brandon and played with another 6-11 or 7 footer in HS.

I grew up with basketball people that knew Randy and played against him and knew what he was. They went on and on about him. Like was said, he was a shell of his former self and still played 11 years in the NBA.

I've heard coach K say more than once on the radio show he had on XM that Randy was the best HS player he'd ever recruited.

Rashard Griffith- McDonald AA, Parade AA, Mr. Basketball in Illinois 1993

The other big at King was Thomas Hamilton who went to Pitt and played in the NBA for 4-5 years.

They were selling out his HS jerseys in Japan. He was going to be the next great basketball player

Jalen Reed is a solid player. Randy Livingston was a phenom that never came to fruition because of injuries. They aren't the same.

In 1993 Livingston was Gatorade National Player of the Year.

You know who the Football POY was? Peyton Manning. Both from Newman High School in NOLA.

Only time both bball and fball POYs were from the same high school.
