Safety play at LSU is abysmal, and it’s not because LSU hasn’t recruited high quality safeties.

It’s because Olsen is abysmal at developing them. Either give Raymond the safety room in addition to the CB room or hire an elite safeties coach

You mean the guy who inherited two 5th year seniors, a redshirt junior, and a redshirt sophomore who was bad?

Not exactly easy to "develop" horrific traits out of horrific players 4 years into their career in one season.

Is your fricking dumbass going to try to set the record for fricking dumbass threads tonight? You must be that other dumb fricking POS tech a-hole that starts dumb fricking threads or is it all people from there are dumb fricking people besides Kim Mulkey?

He definitely didn’t add marked improvement in year 1

Fair to say that

He's only been here one yr .

At least give him this yr before determining he can't develop players.

I already knew way before, but when i realized that grown adults were no different than children, impatient being one of them, i understood why the world is so fricked up.

It's been one got damn year. Yall remind me of Ohio St and Texas fans when they went through the first year of their new DCs a couple years ago.

Ohio St fans were pissed during Knowles' first year. He raised a 38th ranked scoring defense and 59th ranked total defense to 24th, and 15th respectively. The problem is, they gave up 31 and 482 to Penn St, 30 and 402 to Maryland, 45 and 530 to Michigan, and 42 and 530 to UGA. They went 2-2 in those games. Fast forward to year 3, and you'll see that they are #1 in BOTH scoring defense and total defense. That's with playing ND the #10 offense (who i feel was more like a top 20 offense playing a non shite schedule), Oregon twice as the #17 offense, and Penn St and Texas finishing as the 18th and 29th offenses.

Texas hired Pete Kwiatkowski (the one i wanted Ed O to hire that same year), The year before they were 61st in scoring defense and 64th in total defense. In his first year they were way worse. Finishing 99th in scoring D and 100th total D. This was also Sark's first year at Texas. He had every right, and could have easily gotten ride of Pete and nobody would have given him shite for it. However he didn't and one year later, Texas went from 99th to 28th in scoring defense and from 100th to 54th in total defense. People were still mad because they gave up 37 points and 479 yards vs Texas Tech, 41 points and 533 yards vs Oklahoma St, 27 points and 468 yards vs Kansas St, and 27 points and 445 yards to Washington. Three of those resulted in losses. Even in year 3 with a top 15 defense, they gave up 30 or more points 3 times. However they played way better offenses that year so complaining, but not crazy. Year 4 though? They went #3 in scoring defense and total defense. Now usually you would think that's misleading thanks to their SEC schedule, but they had to play UGA twice (full roster), Clemson, Ohio St, and Arizona St.

Yall gotta have patience. I can clearly see the heights this defense can reach. I believe we finish top 20 in defense this year. I truly do. Maybe even top 10 if the injury bug is on our side. This defense in 2 years though, will be top 5 no doubt.

How dare you talk about a coach they like?? In 5.4.3.2.1 they are going to insult your intelligence.

Noah Joseph, another analyst new hire, is a safeties coach as well.

I remember when he was at ULM as a GA. You need to relax. He’s a good coach. Patience.

Not necessarily ready to defend Olsen because I think the jury is still out on him, but I don't think it's fair to pin last years safety play on him either. The pieces he had last year were either young and inexperienced or experienced but also have been subpar their whole careers. If Ryan, Burns & Gilbert were elite players, why couldn't any of them multiple staffs they've been coached by figure out how to unlock them?

SeeksAttention- he hasn’t been hear a year and inherited vet guys that are no longer here. I think we will see a change back there this year.

Keep seeking that greatness. Don’t give up!
