Basically he doesn’t expect to get offered the number he wants, but can’t completely rule out that possibility yet

Sounds like he's waiting for another offer.

His number is around 2.5m so I mean he’ll most likely be here

I think he said it would take something weird with Langford, like they find something in his medicals and offer way less than slot. He either takes it and it opens up a couple million, or pulls a Rocker and takes his chances the next year, freeing up $7 million or whatever. All very unlikely, but I think it would take something like that to free up enough money to hit his number.

Other weird things could happen, and I won’t be completely shocked, but the odds are very high he winds up in Baton Rouge.

Johnson getting advised to go to JUCO and become draft eligible again next year is the one that might worry me. Probably won’t happen, but I think it’s not completely out of the question.

I don't blame him at all. It'd be hard to turn down anything over a million. Even if you don't make it, that'd pat for you to go back to school debt free and get a degree.

Yep if they offer him $2.5 million he has to take that and I will root for him his whole pro career

Who was that pitcher that signed with LSU out of Parkview Georgia a number of years ago that turned down big MLB money, came to LSU for like a week, left and went to JUCO and was then never heard from again?

If they don’t sign Langford they lose that slot value. They don’t just save it to put toward other players. So that’s not quite going to work. Langford would have to sign significantly below and Jake Brown would have to come down significantly to make ends meet and it work out.

Ahh. I knew they’d save money if he signed for less than slot, but wasn’t sure about if he didn’t sign at all. But Texas got a 1.1 talent in most years at #4, it would probably take something really crazy for them to risk losing him by offering him so much under slot to even able to offer Brown something remotely enticing.

And I think that’s what he said. Sounds like he’s 99.999% sure he’s playing at LSU. Just that there’s a tiny, minuscule chance.

Also, I don’t think a previously undiscovered injury for a position player like Langford would scare the Rangers away like Rocker’s did the Mets. Pitchers are a much bigger risk that ++ hitting OFers.

Really? I won’t even remember his name unless he actually wears P&G. Good luck if he gets what he is asking for though!

I disagrees here...he could make enough from NIL to turn down 1 mill
