I can’t believe they’re taking Dale’s name off the court. And only months after putting it there. Ridiculous!

I don’t see why mostly younger fans are so against Dale being honored.. I can understand current criticism of him especially regarding will wade but historically speaking, he brought lsu basketball to a higher status.

The tweet is spot on though… it’s to strange honor Sue one year removed from honoring Dale especially considering his age and Sue is already gone.

Maybe if Moscona and his crew wouldn’t have circumvented the LSU rules for this it would be different. But since they did, it had to be brought up again.

Why do so many of you have to say thing like that about the best basketball coach on our history? Just curious.

Honestly he didn't accomplish much, as I stated had Brady been given 25 years vs 11 he could have reached 2 FF.

Brown had some of the most talented teams and failed to reach a National Title. He only won 4 SEC Titles while Brady won 2.

He was a good coach but never a great coach imo.

It’s pretty simple. We should have higher standards for honors like this.

I agree with this though.

First of all I don’t think court should have been nabbed after dale. Second to stop him off the honor a year later to add someone else’s name is messed up. So the powers that be made this bed and now have to deal with the optics of looking like a bunch of idiots yet again

My support of the men's basketball team has been drastically reduced.

Down vote away, but hear me out...LSU Basketball, men or women hasn't done a thing to garner ANY naming rights other than Pistol. I mean, literally hasn't won anything as a school. If accomplishing a trip to the Final 4 was the standard, sure...but it's not IMO. Shouldn't have been named after Dale to begin with. It'll be Kim's Court before long, all of this is irrelevant.

Totally Wack and Woke.

And you wanna be my latex salesman, huh LSU? (And you want me to donate my money to the University. )

Not happening for me and many other Alums/Fans as long as this kind of nonsensical BS is going down.......

If Brady had been allowed to coach 25 years as opposed to 11 he would have been just as accomplished

I really like John Brady now and he wasn't a bad coach, but Brady's players were quitting on him left and right due to his attitude at that time. Making it anywhere 25 years in college baskerball is an accomplishment. Brown needed to go a couple of years before he did, but his players didn't quit on him in large numbers like Brady's, Brown had consistent success for a long time, and like him or not, he marketed the program like nothing before or since at LSU, so he was able to keep his job longer than Brady.

I think we are currently doubling down on crazy. It's a disease that has spread to the south. It won't matter for long. The LSU world will return to normal when we tear it down and build a 18K seat palace and name it after Kim Mulkey in a couple of years and a WBB NC.

JD is an idiot. Court should have never been named after a coach with a below 60% win rate.

The reason you name a court is only partly about honoring that individual. As much as anything, it’s about manufacturing nostalgia for great memories from the past, which gives a program the gravitas to generate near-religious followers who buy tickets and merch for years to come who preach about “being there” to watch so-and-so perform back in the day.

There’s no amount of woke hysteria that can justify Sue Gunter’s name being used to generate that kind of nostalgia.

Dale Brown, on the other hand. Hell…my dad HATED sports and even he would talk about Dale Brown’s antics from time to time. If you don’t think Dale Brown merits the honor, then you weren’t there to see him in action.

Again…it’s not just about numbers. Dale Brown truly was his own era…and it was exciting enough to produce its own nostalgia. What basketball fan (not just LSU basketball fans, mind you, but ANY college basketball fan) wouldn’t give anything to watch LSU/UNLV or LSU/Loyola Marymount live? Who wouldn’t give anything to watch Dale’s players…CJ, Shaq, Stanley Roberts, Ron Redden, Ricky Blanton (just to name a few) suit up again? Hell…there’s no reason to believe that Shaq or CJ even takes a recruiting visit to LSU without Dale Brown. Are you proud of the way that Shaq represents LSU?

Thank Dale Brown, else Shaq is out repping UNC, Duke, Kansas, UCLA, or some other such school.

You literally cannot have any kind of substantive conversation about LSU basketball without spending a lot of that conversation on Dale Brown.

The man deserves the honor, and if you don’t see it, then you’re clearly too young to have lived it.

And Sue Gunter just can’t hold a candle to that. Sure…she was a good coach. We can even argue that maybe she was a better coach than Dale Brown.

But not one in 10 LSU fans can rattle off the great games and players from her era like most can from Dale Brown’s.

You make a very good argument for the popularity of the men’s game over the women’s. But I don’t think anyone is arguing that point.
