My theory is that Jay requests the early game time slots for these tournaments partly because it might be what the players prefer.
This way they're not waiting around all day at the hotel. They play the game and then have the rest of the evening to enjoy their time in the host city.

Jay was on I believe Mahtook’s podcast and said he requests early game times to protect arms. He doesn’t want guys throwing in 32° weather. They look at the time for what is typically the warmest part of the day and request that for a game start.
