I've been in the same camp as you and I will say it's a possibility that WW 2.0 could return.

You could literally put Bozo the Clown on the sidelines. If he wins, he'll fit.

Bob Huggins is available.
Oh Jesus Christ no. We don't need a 70+ year old town-drunk to fix this.

Huggins is a young 71 and can coach.

Isn’t he almost 70 and in terrible health? Huggins definitely not the answer

I've also told fans clamoring to bring back Will Wade that they're crazy. Many believe that ain't happening, but the more I consider the possibility, why not?
Because will Wade is not a cuckhold.
LSU suspended him for the 2019 tourney and fired him
Just before his last tournament.
He was constantly at odds about facilities and lack of support.
He ain’t coming back.

Wade was cheating his arse off. Gave him a big advantage. Now everyone can pay players.
Please don’t tell me you are so naive to really believe the other major conference schools weren’t paying players? That’s literally why AAU exists. It’s a marketplace for HS players

No way to know what Wade would do now
Given he’s been a HC at four different schools over the course of 11 years, never had a losing season, only had one season where he didn’t have a winning record in conference play (cleaning up Jones’s mess), finished in the top 3 of his conference (going on) 9 times in 11 years, I’d say we have a pretty good idea of what he would do now. Win!

Huggins is a grumpy old a-hole who drinks and drives. An AD doesn't want to hire that mess.

You’re torn? What possibly can he do with another year??? He’s been a disaster!

I'm just about at that point.
I jumped on board after the Texas game. It's fine to hope for success, but it's just not there buddy. It's year 3. It doesn't take that long to build a basketball program in the NIL era, and they don't look any better than last season. There's just nothing there to hope from.

Anybody that supports McHallman at this point, is a Mediocrity Accepting "Freak of Nature."

but I don't see any reason he'd leave
I do. Offer Bruce more money. Problem solved. But I know Scott fatassward wouldnt dare come close to paying what Auburn does for an elite basketball coach. Which is sad because Auburn does not have near the history LSU does in basketball.

Plus we know that Wade can win here. We've literally seen it.
Not really. He was hamstrung his whole time here. We never saw Wade at 100%. Will Wade unleashed could turn us into a damn strong team!

Y’all are crazy. Will Wade would crawl back from Lake Charles if they called him.

Mediocrity Accepting
I can tolerate mediocrity, for a while (LSU 2024 football team, as an example), but this year's edition of LSU's men's basketball is absolutely the worst at the school in recorded history-- worse than Press Maravich's first team, worse than Trent's second and third years, and worse than Johnny Jones' last-- we're talkin' pure a@@ basketball, street level hoops.
Mediocrity would be an unachievable climb upward at this point in time.

This is well below mediocrity. They just got toyed with by one of the worst teams in the league.

I was done after Texas game. I watched maybe 3 minutes of the first half last night. My gf said “isn’t lsu playing tonight”? My response was sad but I really don’t care. I’ve read the book and I know what’s going to happen. On a positive note we started out hot from 3 so that’s good.

McMahon probably has his agent shopping around for another mid major job where he belongs
Hopefully we get a Trent Johnson type exit
