This past 3 games (in the totality of the results of all 3) is pretty concerning. His tenure is young, the program is a mess, but to lose by 40 (and give up over 100 points in regulation) is absurd. Florida isn’t a great team by any means and they bullied us. Really hope he can start recruiting. I think people like me that defended him at first are starting to have some doubts.

No one is happy about the last three games but we are not really doing worse than I expected, however. Wade lost to Bama by 30 at home and gave up over 100 points to them at the PMAC. Really bad games do happen at times.

What don't you realize; the cupboard is bare. We are also paying very good teams right now. The Aggies are beating SC by 42 eight now.

CMM isn’t a good fit for LSU basketball. The program needs someone with passion who can promote the team and encourage the fans to go to the games. Regardless of whether CMM is or is not a good coach, he’s a very poor fit for the program. I don’t foresee CMM being at LSU for more than 2 or 3 more seasons at best and it‘s because he just isn’t a very good fit.

McMahon definitely looks in over his head at the moment. There’s no doubt about that.

He is legitimately a good basketball coach. He did a good job winning consistently and developing players, both of which are essential at the mid-major level. It’s just a matter of whether he can step up to the level you need to be at to compete in a major conference. Same with staff hires and recruiting. It’s possible he can grow into the job, but he has work to do.

This year isn’t what you judge him on, but he still has a lot to prove. How this team hangs together (or doesn’t) and develops down the stretch will tell us something about him a leader, though.

If he turns things around and starts winning, no one will give a shite about “fit.” Winning is all that matters.

So your defense of McMahon is “at least we’re on par with the worst team in the league?

I know he’ll get another year but it was a bad hire and we need to move on asap.

It’s very unusual for both identical twins to be complete idiots but you and First Cut have pulled it off.

CMM is certainly a very good defensive coach, with the exception of the Bama game. Offensively, he’s average and his offensive sets are pretty boring to watch.

Its basketball. Losing by 40 or 20(a normal basketball blowout) doesn't really mean much. But what's obvious at this point is LSU is talent deficient. Wade knew you had to get elite talent. Lets see what Mcmahon can do. I think its obvious hes a good X's and O's coach but it doesnt matter when you are this out manned.

He came in to LSU with zero scholarship players. He is basically coaching an expansion team. To expect him to set the world on fire in year one was delusional at best. The Arkansas win was an anomaly. This is a massive building project that he has on his hands. I still think he is the right person for the job.

Skill-wise, considering how McMahon's recruiting class was ranked, we look worse than I expected. I didn't expect much considering the challenges, but skill-wise, we truly look terrible the last 3 games. Minus the aTm game, we do seem to play hard, but we're terrible with the basketball, we're terrible rebounding and we take many awful shots that don't come close to going in. I just don't see smart basketball except for some very nicely designed plays when LSU has to throw the ball inbounds by our goal.

Wade didn’t have elite talent. Elite talent is Duke, Kentucky, Kansas ext.. Wade never had a lottery pick Kentucky and Duke have had 8 and 7 lottery picks in that time, Kentucky had 3 players drafted last year that went higher than any player Wade’s ever had. He definitely raised the total talent level here at LSU but in no way did he have elite talent. He was just a damn good coach who had enough talent to compete in the SEC. McMahon can do neither of those things.

Agree with most youre saying. I personally think Wade was a great coach besides being an excellent recruiter. I was jus saying that he understood that you have to have that. Before LSU canned him he was going to sign a top 5 recruiting class.

PS

I was on this board many of nights defending his offensive basketball. When all the rantards were on here saying about how it was just "street ball"

WHY DO PEOPLE KEEP SAYING THIS? I have no idea but having the MVC POTY and 2 others from a team that won 30 games and a tournament game last season to a bad TAMU and this asswhipping today is totally unacceptable. Think about the talent still here that played a ton of minutes or was going to play in Miller last season. Then those 4* freshman who can’t do shite sitting there. I mean there is no excuse for these last 3 games not being competitive. I don’t care about losing by 30 to Bama as much as the trend and not really being competitive. That is concerning. This team is S O F T!

There is plenty of talent to not look like complete garbage against bad teams so stop with this message.

I didn’t say he can’t succeed. He may step up into the role and end up being fine, but he wasn’t ready to be a P5 head coach yet.

My comment isn’t just about wins and losses, because this team will be lucky to finish above .500. I’m talking about the metrics that you can look at right now. We haven’t see a lot of improvement yet on the court, especially offensively. The adjustments to what we have aren’t really there yet. But it’s the recruiting situation that is a major concern. If he can’t recruit at an SEC level, it won’t matter how well he coaches. He’s got to fix that immediately.
