re: It's pretty cool to win with no earned runs

dude, anybody that follows baseball, or every played it, SHOULD know that anything that happens after there should have been 3 outs if not for errors, are all unearned. The fact that you bragged about being a score keeper makes it even worse.
An example of why its dumb to me is If there were 2 outs in an inning and then someone gets on base due to error, followed by 3 back to back to back homers all being ruled as 4 unearned runs is dumb in my opinion. But hey I was wrong apparently.
Have a little grace brother

I don't understand why people are worried about if they are earned or unearned. If a team has the the 1st 3 batters of an inning reach base by error that should have been routine outs and then goes on to score 100 runs in that inning, all runs are unearned. It's not really hard to figure out. The offensive players still get credited with the stats they deserve.

but why is Jones’ HR not 1 earned run?
If the errors do not occur, Jones never gets to bat.

I think it is all because some of us are blown away at the number of people on here that don't have a clue about the scoring.
Hell, I learned this in 12u many, many, many years ago...but then I pitched so I knew the rules...lol
Yes, there were hits after the errors....but the point is, those people would never have gotten to bat had Tenn not committed the errors, and they were routine errors.

There are 2 things at work here;
First, the 2 errors let those first 2 runners on so they never should’ve been on base. Hence 2 unearned runs.
Second, error 1 would’ve been out 1, Milam strike out would’ve been out 2, and error 2 would’ve been out 3. Anything that happens after is unearned.
Edited because I forgot about Milam, I thought Stanfield was out 3 but he would’ve been out 4.

Frey reached on an error to lead the at bat, Milam struck out, and was followed by Brown, who also reached on an error. Without the errors, LSU goes three up, three down and the game is over. Everything that followed after the first three batters wouldn't have happened without the errors.
It was an unearned run bonanza.

They were scored as WP (not PB) which puts cause on pitcher which makes them ER.
One hit the mitt of Hernandez and was questionable even by Vitello. He also questioned the first error saying it was a hard play.
I disagree with one of them being a WP for damn sure.

Frey reached on a throwing error by 3b (2-1 BKB). Should be 1 out
Milam struck out swinging (0-2 KSFS). 1 out but should be 2
Brown reached on a fielding error by 3b (0-0); Frey advanced to second. 1 out but should have been two, and this error would have ended the inning, so any runs scored now are unearned.

but I feel decently confident in what I said above
You shouldn’t. Because you’re wrong. Keeping your sons GameChanger does not equate to knowledge in scoring things like ERA, obviously.

Did he ever actually touch home plate?

The first two runs got on base via E5.
Right. And there was an out between them. That’s three outs. Everything after, even though they get scored as hits, are unearned runs. They could have scored 100 runs and they would all still be unearned.

If you are talking about Jones. yes. Look at the hop on home plate.

Anything that happens after the 3 out ”should” have been recorded is unearned. So two errors and a K means everything is unearned.

Guess official scorer determined the first two errors would have ended the game, so all subsequent runs are unearned
That's how earned runs are determined. You re-create the inning without the errors/passed balls and if the runs still would have scored they're earned.
Now the fun part happens when there's a pitching change in the middle of it. Some of the runs can be earned towards the pitcher, but unearned towards the team ERA.

That 3rd baseman had a rough inning.
