Sounds like giving an unproven hire the keys to the nuclear launch codes. Somebody must see something really special in Jones to walk out on that limb.

Right. And the secondaries all sucked.

Dude, we get it. Can you name a single DB that played for him? Are they any good? Is it always the coaches fault if a player is not any good? No matter how much you say the same shite over and over again, it doesn't change the fact that the guy that actually gets to decide picked Daronte Jones to be the next defensive coordinator of the LSU Tigers. I'm excited to have a young, hungry guy in there. My only concern is if Raymond is on board with this. If so, I think Jones/Raymond will be a huge upgrade over Pelini/Busch for the secondary.

I hope communication like getting the right call in quick and players understanding is a lot better than last year.

I knew this melt wouldn’t disappoint. The Rant has 2 criteria for coordinator hires they’ll accept. Either you’ve been an LSU coach in the past or you were a championship level coordinator at a blue blood program. Doesn’t matter that he’s coached at the highest level or under one of the best defensive minds of the last 20 years, he doesn’t fit the Rants ignorant standards for the job. These same people were swooning and creaming over Bo Pelini last year lmfao.

Remember the names Jimbo Fischer, Kirby Smart, Will Muschamp...none of them came to LSU with tons of experience nor high expectations. They seemed to have been pretty good hires by Saban. Let’s hope we will look back and say the same for Daronte Jones.

So we’ve come to the point where we’re saying that he can’t be any worse than the worst defense in the history of the program?

I would prefer a guy having current success at the position (DC).. Also, tend to prefer a guy having success at the college level. I suppose that is asking too much at LSU now.

If he's good then great. I'm just very skeptical of the hire ATM.

You sure the rants criteria is former LSU coach? I hated the Pelini hire. I don't hate this hire, but I certainly don't like it. Would love to be wrong.

This is literally the worst hire I could think LSU could make. He is however friends with the Joseph family and coached at Nichols State...
Therefore he will probably turn out to be one of LSU's hires ever.

Very unimpressive hire at the surface. Could wind up good but a little odd to have to go that far down to hope for a winner.

So were just making shite up now. Maybe you could take the time to research the coaches before you get on here and run your mouth about something that you clearly didnt research.

Please educate me. This guy has been a DC in division 2- does that count in your mind. Are you counting the geezer consultants that the game passed by decades ago?

So we went from one of the top names in college (Freeman) to one of the hot names and successful position coaches (Nielson) to this guy....? Well he checks off a box.

Yea, and you want to blame somebody associated with LSU for that, don't you? It wouldn't have happened if you had been the coach or athletic director. Nobody would be able to turn you down. Right?

They've all called plays at some level.

Why the frick would I be talking about consultants. I'm saying he called plays for the number 1 defense in division 2 for 3 years, that's all. He has done it. Peetz is also very capable ,he was going to be an o coordinator somewhere in the nfl soon ,that's pretty obvious

I’m riding with Jones, but this whole thing smells like absolute failure.
