Can I give you an award please. Well said

I’m not talking results. I’m talking about when they were hired. They were both bargain hires of convenience because of weak ADs- one who didn’t want to spend and another who didn’t want to do a real search.
Well we spent all that money on him and he couldn't recruit coordinators to come work for him.
No one can argue that House was Kelly's first choice, and almost all of his coordinators at ND decided to stay there rather than come with him.
Woodward's MO is to overpay.

The only coaches above him in pay that I would want are Sark, Kirby, and possibly Lincoln.
Saying you might prefer Lincoln Riley to Kelly in 2024 makes everything else you said totally irrelevant.

The going rate at a major program equates to big money.
There are a lot of teams that would want to have 10 wins be the floor (so far).
Ask Florida. Auburn, USC or Oklahoma if they want to trade spots.
Who did you want to hire?
Indiana’s coach?
The rant was shitting on him THIS year.
We lost, it sucks, but saying BK is overpaid doesn’t compute.

I understand thinking he’s a good coach and has come in and turned the program around after a really bad situation, but it’s like some of you refuse to acknowledge his shortcomings.
His coaching hires have been hit and miss. The misses have been absolutely detrimental.
His ability to give games away that we’re in position to win has been incredibly frustrating. Whether that’s taking our foot off the gas or not staying locked in for 4 quarters.
His inability to ever take responsibility is concerning. It’s always something, saying things like “these are the guys we have to play with.” Insinuating he’s not given the talent to compete…at LSU.
The guy is a good coach. A hell of a lot better than most out there. But I have yet to see a single game in 3 years where we look like an elite football team in all 3 aspects of the game.
That’s a problem and it’s okay to acknowledge it.
I describe him as a game manager coach. he isnt elite at anything. saban was obviously elite, but ed orgeron and les miles have won championships here. can kelly? I dont think so, even with the bar being lowered with the playoffs. he just doesnt seem like that guy.

The biggest problem with Kelly is that his teams either don't finish, or begin the game looking unprepared d sloppy.
Posted on 10/27/24 at 1:37 pm to diat150
Les win because of a huge talent advantage and still backed his way into it. O won because for whatever reason he trusted Ensminger who turned the offense over to Brady who was elite. Kelly isn’t going to do what O did, he’s a control freak and neither side of the ball will get that level of autonomy and he’ll never have the talent advantage Les had because of the landscape now a days. We’re fricked guys

bullshite you didn’t need a 10 year 10 mil contract to lure a good coach. It was an asinine contract unless he is NS or Kirby Smart who ALREADY built an elite program
Any established coach is going to get 7-10 years and top 5-8 money to leave one P5 for another. Riley is the only other coach who has made a playoff to move and he got more money and likely has just as big of a buyout. Norvell also has a bigger buyout and just as many years after his extension last year.
Did you want to hire an OC or DC as our head coach? Or a G5 guy like ole Billy? That’s the ONLY WAY to get a guy on a smaller deal with fewer years today.
You idiots are just like our old ADs- fricking cheap as hell. This is what comes with this big TV deal. You pay to play. If it doesn’t work, you pay them to go away and do it again. You don’t win long-term with cheap arse hires, as we have examples of.

Woodward Jimbo'd A&M & LSU now with Kelly
Remember when Aggie fans rioted to have Elko hired and not Stoops?

Brian Kelly's a good coach and culture builder. We needed that but we pay for an elite coach. He's got everything here you can ask for as a coach and he's failing with it. Not failure in the sense of being a bad coach but failure in the sense of not being an elite coach. We've won titles with a legendary coach, a good coach and program builder, like Kelly, and a position coach who was somehow ordained the best team of all time. No excuses why he can't do it other than he just isn't good enough. He's good but not good enough.

It was Brad White, but that guy is evidently an indentured servant to Stoops. He doesn’t seem to be Interested in leaving for anywhere else. We aren’t the only one who have tried.
The big mistake was taking his recommendation of House. White has been able to adjust and make that scheme work with college players. And he can evidently teach it better to younger players. House was abysmal at all of those things.
Do you think we didn’t get our primary hires across the board on offense?
Woody has his rep, but look at the market. If anyone else in the SEC hired a coach who has made a playoff before away from where they are, do you think they would be able to get it done for less than $10 mil per year and 7-10 years guaranteed? Riley got that to go to USC. Lanning just got close to the playoff, but do you think anyone in the SEC could hire him away for less than this? In reality, Oregon would just money-whip him to stay, but hypothetically.
Everyone is over-emotional here today, but step back and look at the numbers objectively. We are paying Kelly market value for the job, in line with other similar hires and extensions. Stop responding with your feelings and just look at the numbers and what each coach has done.

I agree with you.
This is by far his biggest flaw and idk if it’s going to change because the Irish warned us of this when he got the LSU job.
I just don’t think BK has that dog in him. And while it is paramount that the players on the field “have that dog”, especially in the SEC, it is overlooked how important it is for the coach to have that intangible trait as well. Because the players are going to feed off of their head coach. There is no way around it.
And when I saw him standing there on the side line in the third quarter like he was lost and defeated when the game was still WELL within reach, I was absolutely DISGUSTED.
Grit, courage, determination, tenacity, confidence and self-belief.
These are all things I have NEVER seen from BK when it really matters most.
He may say all the right things and may have a great blueprint of how to build a football team. But he is lacking in the area of leadership when it pertains to competition.

Interesting that the reason given that he did not win a Championship at Notre Dame was because of the academic standards at Notre dame.

LOL
If Kelly had some of the losses at LSU that Freeman has had, there would have been riots at LSU.
