It's hard, if not impossible, to defend Les Miles today...

I've been one of, if not the, biggest supporter and defender of Les Miles throughout his tenure at LSU. And despite last night against Ole Miss, Les Miles has done a good job overall at LSU in his 5 years (not great, but good). But after watching what transpired Saturday live in Oxford, I am pretty much speechless.

I will always root for LSU, no matter the coach, and therefore I support whoever the coach is here 100%, but I would by lying if I didn't say that the game against Ole Miss was a colossal coaching failure.

Although I like Les Miles as a man, and he is one of the top recruiters and "program managers" in the country IMO, if we do not win the SEC West in 2010, I think it's time to say, "thanks, Coach Miles, we appreciate everything you've done for us, but we need to move on."

ETA: And anyone that pats themself on the back for saying "I told you so" about Miles, you can kiss my arse because I hate fans like you. And despite last night, I will root my arse off for Miles and LSU against Arkansas, in the bowl game, and every single game they take the field for LSU.

No, no he has not.

He has won because he has talent out the arse that can overcome his stupidity in most cases.

he still has a small chance to be successful at LSU, but it will require him accelerating his role into the Bobby Bowden type figure head, where he has no control whatsovever of anything....but he hasn't earned that so he's done.

This is correct.

It's getting hard to defend a winning percentage of under 500 over the past 2 seasons.

I'm with you. I've stood by Les, but I am very disappointed in what I saw yesterday.

It makes me rethink the clock management in the Auburn '07 game.

So he's the AD now?

His job isn't to "manage" the team. He's the damned Head Coach. Make decisions, teach, recruit, AND BE AWARE OF WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THE FREAKING GAME!

Miles is a joke as a gameday coach.

I say fire him at the end of the regular season, irrespective of the outcome of the Arkansas game or playing an upcoming bowl game. He has squandered incredibly great talent here, and the talent pool for recruiting will quickly dry up. I think Nick Saban is a mercenary SOB, BUT he had disciplined teams who knew what the play was when they took the field. Is this any different from what Miles has been in the past/ Not really, we just got really burned this time.

I simply cannot believe that anyone would only see these overwhelming trends and truths at this point. It is appaling to think that people hide behind "being positive" or "results only" emotions and logic to the extent that people like you have.

How can people be so blind ?!

I've been a big defender of Miles, myself. But I'm off the wagon now. Yesterday did it for me.

I mean when are people going to get it through their head that we lose to much less talent teams on a regular basis, and even when we don't lose its close because Miles is a terrible coach?

Let me just throw out these games from top of my head

09
Ole Miss
La Tech
Miss. State

08
Arky
Troy
Auburn

07
Arky
Kentucky
Auburn
Florida
Alabama

All of those game were games we either lost or could have lost because Les is a terrible coach.

Im with ya, JP... I have enjoyed reading your perspective on things the last couple of weeks.

But I am still flabbergasted by all the errors that we made in the end of the game, beginning with the option to let 35 seconds evaporate after we stopped Ole Miss on 3rd and Goal.

It makes one wonder now if he was lucky all along and now reality is catching up with us.

I support our player wholeheartedly, but this is the greatest waste of talent since Jerry Glanville pissed away the talent on the Houston Oilers! I can no longer ignore the ridiculous delay of game, false starts, and offside penalties that plague every game we play in.

I wasn't in the stadium, but am still speechless all the same..

I agree with this, too.. some on here were twisting my words last week as if I would pull for LSU to lose if someone else were the coach next year, but yet last night some were gladly saying they'd take a loss to Ark. and the bowl game to insure Miles was fired... no way I ever WANT the Tigers to loose.

I too can no longer defend Leslie... I have tried my hardest against friends and relatives but I am now a NegaLes, not a Negatiger... I bleed purple and gold so I will not lose faith in the team, players, or LSU.

But Leslie lost me last night. I have only missed 3 games in person home and away during his tenure as coach here, and he lost me as a supporter. I will continue to go to all the games, but I have zero faith in Les Miles.
