Last year, everyone was praising Mainieri for how great of a decision manager he is with that mid season move that put 3 freshman in the starting lineup. A year removed and now everyone is questioning his ability of in game management. Every coach has a bad year guys.

Agreed. My only concern is the attrition from this years team, could be costly.

Even Skip with the great teams he had only won back to back CWS once in 96=97.

You have to take into account that the majority of the posters who critize PM and the team are nothing but kids or adults who never had ties to LSU, but went to a place like ULL or SLU and are nothing but wannabees LSU graduates. The contributers money wise and the real graduates are very satisfied with the direction that our baseball program is going. Believe it or not we're satisfied with our softball program and track program too. If you can coach better than PM or play better than our guys who sweated their arse off for the University that I graduated from, then get your sorry arse out their on the field and do a better job.

I agree avondale. And you can add to your list people who claim PM can't coach but they've never played or coached baseball.

its not even that. Sometimes like last year everything works out. Then like this year its kinda hit and miss.

This is the first time anyone has ever pointed this out. You are such an original thinker.

That is a fair statement. PM had a tough year and maybe even pressed a bit during the weekend with some questionable tactics, but IMO he has proven himself a good leader and will be fine going forward.

The same with fans and coaches. Everybody loves a winner. Underachievers, not so much.
It's very simple. Is it fair? Nope. But that's how it is----especially in places that used to high levels of success.

Not if you do the equivalent of winning a NC in your job in your job. That's just foolish to think otherwise.

Call me the minority b/c I am NOT happy about track since I donated my arse off for 15+ years and we couldn't build a decent indoor facility. PLUS we lost our NC winning coach, who BTW will sweep for TAMU. WHEN I WAS IN SCHOOL WE HATED TAMU! So NO I am NOT happy with some of the direction. PM is good in my book except some bonehead calls AND his inability to have guys ready to bunt. I have faith he will correct both of those by next year.

If a doctor saves 1,000 people, but makes a mistake and kills a patient you don't think he's in a world of shite? I don't mean not cure someone that's sick. I mean a surgeon who makes a serious mistake in surgery. Atleast Les and PM can't be sued by the fans for lackluster performances.
BTW, I'm very happy with PM.

Personally I always thought he was good with personnel and rotating players in certain situations but never thought he was all that great in situational plays like hit and runs, bunting, stealing and defensive shifts. JMO though and my opinion doesn't count for jack sh*t.
