re: It’s a rivalry. And that’s okay. Own it.

It’s weird people get upset by the word.

Was it considered a rivalry then? Why would it be considered a major one now? LSU doesn't really have a lot of big storied rivals. I would consider Ole Miss and Bama to be LSU's bigger rivalries. Bama is the only reason LSU is not in their position as a modern dynasty.
Playing lots of games doesn't automatically = rivalry. If that's the case everyone in the SEC is LSU's rivalry. Arkansas, Ole Miss, Bama have a much bigger say on LSU's storied rivalry than TAMU will ever have.

This can also be true. So what?
So I don't believe it's some bigger rivalry, like your entire thread states.
Dude, I get it, you think it's a rivalry. I'm excited for you. But do you only want people posting in here that agree with you?
If so, put that in the OP. Otherwise, accept that there's a lot of people that post here that don't think it's a rivalry. And want to own that. No big rivalry.

A matter of opinion, obviously, but largely yes.

Again, this can also be true. I’d even probably agree with you. Because one’s greater than the other it doesn’t mean the other doesn’t exist.

Bedlam isn't a rivalry? Is Alabama not a rival for us? Michigan-Michigan State is historically one-sided too. Still not a rivalry?

There's not enough history between the programs to be a rivalry.
We've played A&M more times than Auburn. In fact, more times than half the SEC.

Not at all. I knew a lot of folks would disagree and I looked forward to hearing from them and debating them about it. If it bothers you that I’m sticking to my guns, I mean I guess you can always leave the thread.
Do I just declare you the winner of this argument and shut it down? Will that make you feel better? Lighten up.

Sounds like you're trying to fabricate a rivalry that most of the LSU fanbase doesn't agree with. There isn't really a lot of big story between LSU and TAMU despite the games they played in the past. It's boring. Nobody cares about TAMU. They've been irrelevant for decades now.
TAMU might want this to be a big rivalry since they try to play little brother shadowing LSU's footsteps and failing miserably, but LSU's base is not going to consider them a rival. If games played is an argument then I guess the entire SEC is our rival like I said above.
The only controversy with TAMU is the recent rigged game they got handed to them by refs and quite frankly, I don't want their fAggie culture associated anywhere with our program's rivalry history.

That's not part of the primary definition of rivalry.

Not a rivalry just animosity towards a freak arse program that perpetually acts like they’re top tier despite zero accomplishments.

As soon as Texas is in the SEC they will play A&M T-giving week. LSU will be begging Arky to be our new bestie rival that weekend. Given that, it's hard to view A&M as a rivalry game. It's just a game.
Or, Texas vs. OU will be the rivalry week game. And A&M (the USL of Texas) will continue to play LSU. Either way it's nothing to get excited about.

It's the SEC trying to fabricate a rivalry with TAMU because they didn't really have a lot to work with when they came to the SEC. It will go back to what it use to be when Texas is in the SEC by making TAMU their rivalry every year and TAMU being the little brother they are to Texas. They replaced Arkansas for us because SEC wanted marquee match ups for money trying to fabricate a big rivalry that never came to be.

So UAB had rivalry potential too? Good thing they didn't win.
Look, A&M is a rivalry game in the general sense of the SEC. We have lots of those: Ole Miss, Florida, Bama, Auburn, Arkansas.
I hate Florida and Bama and Ole Miss, with Florida being at the top of the list, but it's not the same kind of loathing I have for A&M.
A&M is lacking in self awareness and are just different, and not in a good way. I lived in Texas 15 years so I know them well. My disdain for them is different. They are strange people. They live in an unhealthy echo chamber in Collie Station.
I want to beat A&M almost as badly as anyone, but not necessarily because they are some kind of 'chief rival'... It's because losing to those awkward cultish retards would be embarrassing.

A&M has two wins over LSU in the last 25 years.
This is not a rivalry.
A&M has annoying online posters. That is it. No rivalry.

The entire SEC is our rival. They all hate us, and we hate them. A&M is no different.
