I thought it was odd that we would trust the word of someone we had learned not to trust - When Sabin recommended him I thought it was a bad idea.

If hindsight were 20/20, I would have promoted Jimbo, but Jesus...how bad do you think the fans would have been pissed at that? It would have been worse than had Les gone to MI and we hired Beaux.

Miles was a 500 coach,2 winning seasons and 2 losing season's he had no business getting the LSU job. Jimbo would have been a huge upgrade. No way he loses 2 games a year in 05,06,07. Bad Hire. Mediocrity is here to stay.//// Skip thought he had found another Saban CAUSE they were both in States that had 2 Major programs and were both at the lessor University, Saban Michigan St and held his own against the big dog Michigan and Miles at Oak St had beaten big dog Oaklahoma 2 out of 4 years. IF MARK EMMERT WOULD HAVE STILL BEEN AT LSU MILES WOULD NEVER HAVE GOTTEN HIRED///////4 MILLION DOLLARS FOR A COACH THAT CAN'T EVEN DO THE BASICS SUCH AS CLOCK MANAGEMENT. WE DESERVED MORE THAN ON THE JOB TRAINING HIRE

No...far too inexperienced with big time LSU. Jimbo would have learned a lot faster. He knew the ropes.

and obviously knew the personnel. i'd love to know what jimbo would've done from 05-07. i doubt very seriously he would've lost 2 in 06 and 07.

I think there are other good coaches like Jimbo out there, under radar, unseen a vacancy such as LSU will bring them out of the shadows

Petrino and and a personal behavior guard to keep him in line. Petrino offense with Chief's defense and the players LSU recruits equal multiple championships. Look what he did at Arkansas (not the motorcycle ride! LOL).

Honestly I really wanted Spurrier that offseason.

Obviously Miles worked out.

Yes.

The question compels a "yes" answer.

Knowing what I know now I say no. I do think Miles has done a decent job with very good talent. I personally wanted to see Jimbo promoted but that wasn't the decision. I'm not a Miles hater but I just feel like under Miles LSU always plays to the level of competition that they are playing.

As I recall Saban suggested Nutt and said Jimbo wasn't ready to the administration. To answer the question: YES.

Really wanted Spurrier but he is not LSU material. Hoped for Jimbo but got Miles.. He has done very well..
