Not sure if college is different, but I am 100% certain an MLB pitcher must throw a pitch if they enter the game. I would assume college is the same.

It's just a rule of baseball, period.

Yeah, what's wrong with that?

It's useless IMO. He got a big ovation Saturday, and unfortunately things didn't work out from there. It also admits defeat, and that's not really the message you want to send IMO.

Also, you may not realize it, but PM did this for Nola on Saturday night.

Nola had thrown 101 pitches through 7 solid innings on Saturday night. He brought Nola out to face one hitter in the top of the 8th inning and Nola threw three pitches to him in retiring him. PM then came and took him out at 104 pitches.

The ONE and only reason PM sent him back out there for the 8th inning was so that Nola could get the ovation that he did.

Obviously you didn't you stupid frick. This isn't about him pitching, but being honored for being a great tiger

ETA: He didn't even have to throw a pitch to get the recognition that he deserves

Could have brought him in the third inning and let him pitch underhand. Wouldn't have done much worse than the other guys.

First off bringing in Nola last night would have been a bad move....but hell the message PM was relaying from inning 8 Sunday until the bitter end last night wasn't the message he needed to send IMO.

After Houston tacked on a few more runs in the 9th they should have just let Nola bat.

If you wanted him to get his due, you should have said that they should have pinch-hit him as the leadoff batter in the 9th.

Our leadoff batters were never getting on base anyway.

Pretty sure you're wrong about that.
He could have casually tossed a ball as if he was intentionally walking the batter. There ya go. One pitch

I had good intentions when I started this thread. Didn't realize it would turn into such an abortion

You may not seem to know what you're talking about in this thread, but your heart is definitely in the right place so I still give you credit.

I'm pretty sure Nola wants his last memory in Alex Box not to be "toeing the rubber" in a blowout elimination game.

So instead of his last memory being leaving a winning game with a standing ovation, he should have walked out into that mess and threw a pitch just so everyone could clap for him? Nola would have told the entire coaching staff to go jump of a bridge if they would have even mentioned that to him. That would have been a disgrace to him and his team and not an honor.

Would have been cool in theory, but if you do that, you are basically conceding the game. That wouldnt have sat well.
