It needed to be done. I don't get why today? And why keep him around?

Yes, this needed to be done. Can someone explain it to me what the advantage is to do it today, in the middle of the season, after a big win over Florida on a record-breaking day?

Well seeing all of the additional off the field issues coming out, it makes sense. I wouldnt be surprised if more leaks start pouring out

I get that, but if that's the reason for the firing, why let him finish out the season?

This is the reason, if the team continued to somehow get big wins, it would make it look worse.

It was no longer about winning and losing, O has done some bad stuff and is creating a toxic situation in the building and needed to be dealt with

It leaked. The leak wasn't planned. The separation was.

Why not just let him go then? Why keep him around for the rest of the year?

Maybe Woodward waited until he had the new guy locked up.

This was in the works before the Florida game and the outcome of the game had no bearing on the result.

I really hope that's the case, but again why let O finish the season? If he's fired, show his arse the door.

In case he put a string of wins together. Then you would have a section of the dumbass fan base calling for him to keep his job. Just like what happened with Miles

Why give him the chance? Why keep him around. The guy is fired. Get him out of there? Why are they keeping him around?

Perhaps it is a courtesy to a national championship winning coach

What is the benefit to running him out and then moving to an interim coach? What upside comes from that in the middle of season?

It was all about the buyout and the related timing and leverage. They were ready to fire for cause, and told O we need to know by X date if you’ll take this number negotiated buyout which will be better for all parties but if you don’t, we intend to fire for cause on X date

It was probably all procedural. O didn’t want to get fired for cause and took the deal - and the lesser buyout money - by the deadline.

Why now? My take is that our AD was worried that O could rally team/fans. By “leaking “ this news and “leaking” lots of dirt on CEO, he took care of that. Season guaranteed to tank from here.

I get that, but why keep him around? Do you think that was part of the negotiation on O's part?

They ran him off for off field reasons. He hurt some big wig feelings. Texas has been sad for many years because some big wig wasn’t happy. sad.
