Is every game we've played since then...in the wake of one of the worst natural disasters in our country's history when our home field was turned into a triage unit? Am I missing something?

In order, who do you think the 5 best overall football coaches are in the SEC?
1. Meyer
2. Saban
3. Miles
4. Richt
5. Spurrier
6. Petrino
That's my top 6. What's your list look like?

Not bad. I'd probably put Petrino ahead of Spurrier at this point.

What exaclty on Gerry DiNardo's resume prior to LSU made him a good hire?
he was the offensive coordinator and national assistant coach of the year for 1990 national champion Colorado. he did as good as anyone could in his first head coaching job at Vandy and was considered a young, up-and-coming head coach. if you recall in 1997, he was actually mentioned as a possible head coaching candidate for the Dallas Cowboys. when his assistants began leaving, he made absolutely HORRIBLE hires. when asked why he promoted Bob Mcconnell to O coordinator in 1999, i remember him saying that he didn't feel it was necessary to bring in a "so-called offensive genius" to coach the offense. as far as Tepper, Dinardo just went down with the ship with him instead of making a change.

That's a bit much. You do remember it was right after Katrina huh?

that made Miles try to call a TO? why didn't the asst coach who tackled him do the same?
& I'm sure Miles was thinking about a hurricane all during that game.
excuses like this are just RIDICULOUS
just WOW!

Can I answer this for them?
1) Miles
2) Miles left nut
3) Miles right nut
4) Miles middle nut
5) Miles hat
6) Miles other hat
7-11) Everyone else
Dead Last) That short dude that left me on Christmas

I would put Saban at 1, Meyer at 2 due to the Tebow effect. Maybe they are a split at 1. I have to put Richt ahead of Miles on a head to head basis. I will slot Miles 4. I may have to go with Nutt at 5. I think Dan Mullen is going to be a great HC, just not at MSU.

Yeah, I struggled with those two. I just need to see Petrino win more than he has, and do it consistently, in the SEC before I'll put him over one of the best all time in the conference, even if he has seen his better days.

So even with 3 11 win seasons and a National Title later, you still just want to cling to that attempted timeout in the second game of his tenure ?
Some of our fans are just amazing.

DiNardo was a continuation of Joe Dean basement hires. DiNardo had not come close to proving himself as a head coach. That includes his admirable, but less than amazing 4 consecutive losing seasons at Vandy.
If you believe hiring someone that hasn't had a winning season as a HC is a good hire, then okay. I think DiNardo did an admirable job at LSU and if the issues you mention didn't happen he could still be coaching, but to think he was a good hire, I cannot agree with.

Yeah that's a tough call. Despite the fact that Tebow is there, I still think Meyer's run since 06 is just phenomenal. He won that 06 title with Tebow only being a real factor in one game (
Saban last 2 years have been amazing, but 07 was rough, and he was less consistent at LSU.
This will be reevaluated after Tebow leaves, but as of now I put Meyer at 1.

Yeah, he was a tough Nutt to crack too.
I just think his teams are so schizophrenic sometimes. He's just not consistent enough to put ahead of Spurrier IMO, although I wouldn't argue putting him over Petrino, again just because Petrino still doesn't have much of a track record in the SEC yet.

In the heat of the moment he made a mistake. Jesus eff.
Your bias against Miles is alarming. I sure hope your wife and kids never frick up...

That pretty much sums it up. That timeout, preceded by his funny headset in the Arizona State game led him to be forever labeled an idiot by an idiotic segment of our fanbase.

we're gonna find out the next 2 games.
with all these great recruiting classes you got no one to blame but the coaching staff if we go 7-9 in conference the past 2 years.
and don't blame it on ryan perilloux, for heaven's sake!

Yep, nothing in the past 2 years has anything to do with any of our idiotic segment thinking this program is declining.

If we win the next two games is "the program in decline?"

Well, because of the timeout vs Tennessee in 2005, if we win the next two and the bowl, the program was in decline the night of the National title win vs Ohio State according to Billy Bob.
