And everyone's wondering why black lives matter only when a white man takes it.

Not hard to understand.

Wayde wasn’t killed by a police officer. None of this is difficult to understand or respect.

Serious question. Why does Wayde Sims' murder not matter as much as a black guy being murdered by the police?

No because black officers who commit police brutality wont even make the news. Just like whites killed by police brutality.

Could it be more relevant to a public debate because the police officer was a government employee acting in his official capacity when he committed the murder?

Was there ever any doubt that the guy who shot Wayde Sims, once identified, would be charged (and plausibly convicted) of this murder?

No doubt a cop doing wrong is worse than a thug going wrong snd is more upsetting. However, when you have a very small number of bad cops and a plethora of thugs it would seem to me like that would also cause outrage in the community.

And in the Floyd case immediate action was taken and there was no doubt that Chauvin was in big trouble.

That's a solid point. I really wasn't trying to be a smart arse when asking. I was generally wanting to hear the response from a different point of view.

One reason (among many) for the backlash is that the only black deaths that seem to matter are deaths at the hands of law enforcement. Yet, blacks murdering other blacks is a significantly higher number.

Another issue that bothers me is that there seems to be an assumption that blacks cannot be racist. This is absolutely untrue. I have seen (but not been offended by) black racism. This ties into the assumption that somehow whites are brutalized by the police, but they are (and in greater numbers).

Hopefully, everyone can put emotions aside (and the emotional arguments) and figure out a way to address police brutality. Eliminating qualified immunity, the militarization attitude, and no knock raids would be a huge start.

One other big issue that divides the races is that whites are generally far less concerned when someone with an extensive criminal record gets manhandled by the police. I see it regularly when picking juries in civil rights cases.

Considering Southern U is partly responsible for the murder of one of our basketball players we should never do anything with them.

I can answer that it's called systemic racism is why you have alot of black on black violence due to ones survival when shunned by Corporate America to work an honest living. This leave those less fortunate to turn to selling drugs, robbery etc. If this country really cared than education would be equal across the board not just in communities that pays higher taxes Louisiana as a state is ranked 2nd to last to only Mississippi let that sink in.

I’m glad the coaches are supporting their players.

Supporting what? Exactly what are they having a rally/protesting about?

I don’t even think this, though it’s a good point, is the real issue. There are only a couple of hundred black men killed by police every year, and most of them are in shootouts and stuff. The real problem is the amount of harassment the average black man has to put up with. It’s got to be humiliating, and any proud man would rebel at that.

I grew up in Metairie where Sheriff Harry Lee’s policy was to harass black men walking in white neighborhoods. On the one hand, this is horribly unfair to upstanding black men. On the other hand, had Harry Lee not done that our neighborhoods would have been overrun by lawlessness. So we had two rights clashing and a very real dilemma.

Your mistake is blaming a local problem on the federal government. Try not voting for the same group for 60+ years maybe then change is possible. The community is directly responsible for its leaders, passing the blame solves nothing. White people in Arizona have literally zero to do with inner city crime in Detroit.
