To each his own. It doesn't bother me.

I understand where you are coming from but there is a fine line between throwing a player under the bus and being honest about him. I personally dont think Maineiri crosses that line.

I don't think CPM said anything publicly that he hasn't already said in private to Moore. If Moore found out that he wasn't going to play catcher from an interview that Mainieri gave, then I'd have a problem with it.

Yeah, by this logic Bregman should sit down too. A sub .900 fld% is terrible against the teams that they have played so far.

You do realize that CPM sees Moore perform at practice everyday, I trust. And you do realize that CPM knows the ins & outs of running a top flight college baseball team a 100000000 times more than any fan in the stands & here, I trust. I love Moore's left handed bat but he's had his chances to be a full time player & it would seem that, once again, there are better players ahead of him; which is not a knock on him at all.

You are right, but it still OK to scrutinize a decision that has one of the worst hitters so far taking the spot of one of the best hitters so far.

What's wrong with Tyler playing 1B
I thought he's done a good job so far

Chinea is hitting .118 with a .158 ob%.

Moore is hitting .350 with a .417 ob%

and scivicque is hitting .316. Did you leave him out of the discussion because it doesnt help prove your point?

He wasn't part of my post because he isn't the one getting replaced. The OP says he is sticking at the DH spot for now.

You don't agree that Tyler is the best hitter out of the three?

Then he would be the DH. Plus, about him being a clutch hitter = great pinch hitter situation.

Hale’s move to first base affects the team’s one-time three-way battle at first base and catcher among Chris Chinea, Kade Scivicque and Tyler Moore.

One or two of the three will be out of the starting lineup.

Chinea will start at catcher Friday, and Scivicque is expected to remain at designated hitter. That leaves out Moore.

Moore, a Dunham grad, will be used in a more limited basis behind the plate after Tuesday’s outing. He misfired badly on two throws to second, allowing a pair of steals.

“The throws weren’t very accurate, nor were they strong,” Mainieri said. “That was always my concern with Tyler. Of the three catchers, he has the third-best throwing arm strengthwise.”

Moore’s role, for now, is unclear, but Mainieri said, “I still am confident in Tyler. He’s just not blessed with an overly strong arm.”

Per my conversation with Kim Jong Ir on Saturday at lunch, the arm on a catcher is like fourth on the list of important things the catcher needs to do.

I understand Tyler doesn't have the strongest arm, but I also think he's really agile and nimble behind the plate as far as blocking the ball.

I've seen both Chinea and Sciv let easy balls pass them by - for passed balls - that let the runner advance. But CPM is giving up on Tyler because he had a few inaccurate throws...

It's just not surprising to me that Paul is the first to give up on Tyler. He's always seemed to put him in his doghouse at some point each season.

Tyler is the best hitter out of the three IMO, and has the clutch factor that no one else on our team possesses (or that we have yet to see from the new guys).

I hope Tyler can find his way back on the field or in the DH position soon. It's frustrating as a fan of his to continue seeing Paul push him out of PT.

Steve Moore? Is that you?

Jk, those are all very accurate observations and I have no clue why CPM doesn't play Tyler More

It may not be a huge issue now, but if we were to leave him back there it wouldn't take long for teams to figure out that they could steal at will. That would not be a good thing. You don't have to have the best arm, but you need to be able to throw a runner out every now and again.

I'm far too young to be Tyler's father.

Also "clutch factor" is a myth

I definitely don't think this is a myth. The way your body responds to nerves and under pressure is definitely real in any sport or anything you do. I'm not saying Moore is cluth or not, I'm just saying being cluth is real.

Personally I think Moore should play first or DH at a minimum against right handers.

After the way ULL ran all over our catcher I can't blame him for shelving that idea. Granted, the pitchers could have done a better job of holding those runners but ULL attacked and LSU had no answer from behind the plate especially when your giving up 3rd base uncontested.

I would also move Ibarra to SS for a game or two this weekend because Bregman might be better at 3rd.

That will never happen. But maybe Bregs can't overthrow 1st from all the way over at 3rd.
