It looks to me like Verge is being set up.

I tend to agree. I think Verge was hired temporarily but won't last long at all. Not much longer that the hiring of a football coach. Clearly Rousse knows the difference between removing an interim tag and hiring a permanent AD.

Verge did this to himself. Wanted the permanent title and leaked it as a done deal to the media

Verge was kept as AD to ensure that the BOS would vote for Rousse. All these people on here complaining about Landry, but everything that has been a "shite show" beyond Landry speaking out of turn has been on the old Regime of SW and the prior Governor's BOS appointees and President. It is politics. There is always compromise to get to the end result. This change is more than just about football, although it was the engine that started it all. All State Universities are political and doesn't take much research to find political dealing in all of them. In every state Universities are used to give out positions, contracts, and patronage. La in no more corrupt than the rest of the States (people just think that because of Long), but every State has corrupt politicians. If you don't believe that you are naive or ignorant of anywhere outside of LA.

People on here complaining about LSU and the lower standards, shootings on Campus, and spending on DEI positions, shouldn't be complaining about what is happening. We need Rousse to make the needed changes at LSU to make a true flagship. LA has not shown the political will to close colleges, so let the others take the lower tier students and professors and let them give out the Women's studies degrees. This is an opportunity to hopefully improve LSU for the better. To acquire the areas around campus and to preserve the history of LSU by not changing the names of buildings because today's students and professors don't understand LSU's history and the context of when things occurred.

Verge should have been fired with SW. However, if the new President wants to flex his muscles against the BOS which will be changing again shortly, Verge will need to understand if he wants to retain his position.

The man has been there days. Let him come in and make his changes. The BOS won't fire him if he pushes Verge to the side. There are changes coming and I hope they meet all the promises.

Verge should be happy to keep his job and LSU will be better served when James Williams and Collis Temple are no longer on the BOS. Not that Carmouche is much better, but it wouldn't be hard to be better than the majority of JBE's appointments.

Isn’t Rousse supposed to be helping Verge with the head coach search

Yes.
They’ve set up Rousse to be the choke point for all of athletics. He is little lying Landry’s boy.

Gotcha. So "Blame the other guy" for what Landry is doing now. As if Landry's appointments don't run the show on the BOS even with only 7/15 members directly appointed by him.

It’s not that deep. It’s just that the state and the university have always been run by a retarded clan of good ole baws who are in way the frick over their heads.

I think that, if the BOS/Rousse like how Verge does the legwork for hiring a new HC, they will give Verge and 2-3 year contract as AD.

If LSU wants to be known as a 1st class university with a Top 5 athletics program, LSU should always do a bonafide national search for key positions!! The current chaos at LSU demonstrates a complete lack of leadership!!

I have no idea what was lacking in President Tate's leadership that would cause Gov Landry to send him packing. So I can't have an informed decision on whether that move was merited or not. But I do feel that had Tate still been in place without limitations on his scope of decision making, he would have required a comprehensive national search for a new AD and football coach. Might have ended up with the exact same outcome but I think Tiger Nation would feel much more confident in both hires it that had been executed.

He has family connections to a strong political family in New Orleans. IMO, this political family kept him from being fired after his suspension. This same family and its political friends are pushing for Ausberry’s appointment now without LSU hiring an AD search committee!!

The search committee would probably find a more qualified candidate.
