Is the game at noon in case a second game needs to be played, or is it single elimination?

I think it’s single, which is dumb.

Single elimination in Semis now. I think they started this a few years ago.

CWS used to be like that

Only the final was single elimination.

The last thing we want to do is play 3 games this weekend.
I like the format of the SEC tourney.

It’s unfortunate that the team that has won all games can get sent home in one game by the team it already beat.

But the advantage is a day off, one less game played, and fewer pitchers used. Those outweigh the single elimination scenario, IMO.

I agree. But I see the rational of letting teams move on the the regionals . The ability to find pitching gets tough. Are you really seeing the representative team?

UK had a bye in game 1

I'm okay with the formatting, we don't have enough pitching to string this out to 6-7 games. No team does

It was double elimination I think until 2013 when they expanded it from 8 teams to 10 (and then 12 the next year). When it was 8 teams, you had a max of 6 games in 5 days. Now with this format, if they kept it at double you’d have 7 games in 6 days which college teams really aren’t built for.

Apparently with two more teams in the mix, there will be no more double elimination at all in the tournament.

CWS would revert to single elimination in the final round, not the semis.
…..which is also dumb. Georgia won their title as a 1-loss against previously undefeated OSU.
