Is this year a bust if we don’t make 12 team playoff?

Year 3 for BK. He has one of the best offensive lines in the history of the program and plenty of weapons to move the ball down the field. I say yes.

I concur. A down year by our standards should be making the playoffs as a 10-12 seed.

If we can get over the first challenge with USC, I feel good about our chances of making the 12 team playoff

We have OU at home for the regular season finale

We just need to split vs Alabama and Ole Miss and there is a very good possibility we are a one loss team going into the OU game

Moving forward not being in the playoff will be seen as a disappointing season. Fact is 12 spots up for grabs and we have to feel like we should be in there more than not. IT doesnt mean missing it makes every season feel the same. If we went 9-3 and missed it that would feel different than 6-6 or 7-5 for sure...but it does raise the stakes where if someone misses the expanded playoff here for like 3 years in a row they are not doing a good job. I feel like there would be a lot of heat on any coach here if they missed a 12-team playoff 2 years in a row.

It would definitely be a disappointment. I'm not sure if I'd say a bust only because we project as a 10-14 team due to a few unprovens, so sort of a bubble team. But my expectation is that we make it in the playoffs.

Yes. CBK said year three we’d compete for championships and this is now his team. No excuses with this schedule to not go 10-2

I'm really trying to take a step back and look at other's perspective but I've been pretty confused on how the general public is perceiving our expectations for the upcoming season.

We have an elite OL, elite WRs, strong RB room, and a QB that everyone admits would've been a starter at most P4 schools last year.

Our defense, despite coming off a horrific season, is now surronded by some of the best coaches in the sport.

I just don't understand how people think an a&m with a first year head coach or a Miami with a staff that's embarrassed themselves the last 2 years have higher ceilings than us.

I'll be honest. If we don't go 10-2 or better, I'd be surprised. Of course shite can happen, but I don't see why our squad and staff is viewed as a middle of the road team instead of an elite group.

The reason Miami is getting hype is their schedule is absolutely laughable. Cristobal is a joke, but if Miami is decent at all they could easily churn out a 10-2 season still. 9-3 or worse on their schedule would be like them going 6-6 or 5-7 in the SEC this year.

I saw a prediction of us playing NC State in the fricking Gator Bowl. Predictions for this team are all across the board.

It's because we had an historic offense last year and still lost 3 games due a historically bad defense.

The offense is most likely going to take step back (hopefully just slightly), but people are still in the "wait and see" approach to the defense (myself included).

I think we improved coaching greatly, but I just don't think the talent is there.

My expectation is 10-2, but 9-3 would not shock me.

Well there are some big question marks. How far does the offense step back with Nuss? How much can our defense improve? Those two things will determine if we are a 10+ win team, or win 8 games. They are huge unknowns at this point.
