If it’s not, it’s in top 2-3. Absolutely pitiful.

Jay said before season that this was the overall best pitching staff he has had at LSU. Now he sounds like a car salesman.

Yes, he said that, so can he fix it with that kind of player evaluation process?

It’s pretty bad. Ironically, we lead the SEC in strikeouts.

no, we lead the league in Ks. We have 613. Ole Miss is 2nd with 602 (including their game tonight). We lead the country in strikeouts actually. Wake is 2nd with 610

Where do we stand in hit batters by pitching?

3rd in the SEC with 71. Kentucky has 84 and Vandy 83

We lead the league in wild pitches with 82. Kentucky is second with only 58

Yes you are right. I was looking at the wrong stat.

622 K’s (Leads the SEC)
275 Walks (Highest in the SEC)
85 Wild Pitches (Leads the SEC by 27)
73 Hit Batsman (3rd highest in the SEC)
5.56 ERA (Highest in the SEC)
329 Runs Allowed (Highest in the SEC)
287 Earned Runs (Highest in the SEC)

This is historically bad.

Which was the worst year in our history for pitching. I don't know myself.

No man. Jay Johnson has no clue what he's doing. He terrible at evaluating players and because of that, he'll never win anything.

Someone should tell him to listen to TigerMac81. If there's one thing we can count on with you, it's good takes and awesome evaluations. Like when you gave up on the 2023 and 2025 teams. You knew they sucked and wouldn't win anything - and boy were you right!

This pitching staff is stocked with mostly THROWERS, not pitchers. SEC coaches didn’t take long to figure them out. I suggest CJJ needs to hire a serious PITCHING evaluater and not a hard thrower evaluator. There has got to be a lot of blame on the coaches when MOST of the pen cannot throw strikes when needed vs just a couple of guys.

If you think LSU baseball started under Skip Bertman, maybe. If you think it started 92 years before Skip, then absolutely not.

LSU has played baseball for what, 100 years?
Probably not. So dramatic.

So what happened this year? He publicly said it was his best pitching staff at LSU. How do you miss that badly, and will it happen again?

This is about as bad as I’ve ever seen in the 40 years I’ve followed lsu baseball. I give a partial pass to some years during the gorilla ball era with the juiced bats and players….

It sucks but I’ll take some lows with the highs regarding Johnson….

The lowest lows are now worse than the highest highs.
