Lsu colors are purple and gold so the purple jersey should be worn at every whole game. Forget all this not good luck crap.

I think the mandate by the NCAA to wear a white home jersey happened in the late 70s or early 80s after there was a mixup in some game and both teams showed up with only white jerseys. So the NCAA overreacted.

I don’t know when the purple jersey alternate was introduced, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t until some years later. Maybe some time in the 70s.

Might wanna go look at some old LSU football
Georgia Tech’s preferred jerseys were also white back in the day. We wore purple when we played them in Atlanta.
I think there were some other schools which would elect to wear their whites at home to get under our skin and make us wear purple.
Way way back I believe we wore our colors too.

GaTech and LSU both preferred white home jerseys
No actually, Ga Tech wore pale gold jerseys at home. When LSU came to play in Atlanta in 1962, the game was televised in black and white, and the Tech jerseys appeared white on the screen. LSU was able to get purple jerseys, with numbers just before kickoff.
I believe that was the only Tiger game televised that year, until the victory over Texas in the Cotton Bowl.

True. Kentucky, in particular,Miss State from time to time and Florida in 1972 and 2000 wore white at home and LSU wore purple. LSU wore purple on the road twice in 1978.

The purple jerseys suck. Please stop with this crap.

yeah but he wore PURPLE pants in 95 at kentucky
Right and it was hideous. Had his teams wear gold jerseys instead of purple if necessary. Idk if he had something against the purple ones or what.

One thing I am hoping for in the NEW Lane Kiffin era is that we incorporate the Purple Jerseys MORE. We can still mostly wear white but my goodness the purple jerseys are part of tradition and im tired of them being linked to bad luck. You create your own luck we sucked in the 90s and Dinardo wanted to do something to change things up. They are much better than the ALTS and I get tired of seeing the same uniform every single game. How great did we look in the classic white losing to Houston last night?

The whole game? Yeah, they don’t change at the half. Anyway, the home team picks their uniform, color or white. Most of all teams choose their color jersey. If the home team chooses white then the visiting team wears color jerseys. LSU and Georgia Tech historically chose to wear white jerseys for home games. Since other SEC teams wore color jerseys at home LSU was virtually in white all the time. Kinda like Dallas in the NFL. I recall once where LSU was forced to wear purple as the visiting because the home team elected to wear white I believe it was Vanderbilt.

wearing white at home is the LSU tradition.
did from the 50s until ‘83.
then from ‘95-present.
so the purple at home was only a thing for about 12 years.

No we have been wearing purple for non conference games so more than 12 years. Its the year 2025 where the players like different uniforms. Thats why you see the Alts. The purples granted not as traditional as the white but still traditional(that's everyone's argument tradition on why should wear the whites at home) is better than the Alts. BTW Saban was the one that started the Purples against non conference opponents at home. You know why? Because he said the players wanted to wear something different every once in a while. This whole mantra that we play bad in them is outdated and stupid. Plus PURPLE is one of our colors. We should highlight it more. Every single other sport we wear purple jerseys.

The whole always wear white at home has run its course. Nobody under the age of 60 cares that it was bad luck to wear purple. Wearing white the last few years hasn’t helped.

In history? No man. shite no.
Back in the 70’s it was very rare to see the purple jersies. If it happened it was usually on the road at Kentucky. I remember it being so rare that I was fascinated to see the highlights because it was such a strange sight.
