For every excuse that Foley claimed yesterday, S.Carolina made it happen last yr. Same exact circumstances. No SEC involvement, just the 2 schools working together. Course, that takes 2 schools. Fla. did not want to play anywhere but in Gainesville on Sat. Next yr in TS will be ugly, almost as bad as nicky's first return to TS as bama's HC.

Speculation: It will cost LSU 1.5 million to pay USA for their game (assuming LSU plays UF on the 19th). Seems logical to me that the SEC would pay that fee and relieve LSU of the financial hit.
So the total cost to LSU for giving up the USA game and traveling to Forfeit University would be $4.5 million.
Would the SEC be willing to allocate that much to LSU over and above its normal year end distribution, thus making the entire SEC schools receive several hundred thousand dollars less? Doubtful.

Why aren't you reporting on the lies about Foley waking up Thursday morning to "2 big shifts in the hurricanes path"? LSU fans have been watching that hurricane since before last weekend. Go look at the thread on the O-T and see when it was started. That hurricane was projected to bounce along the Florida coast from day 1. Foley was lying his arse off. They never wanted to play this weekend, and it's obvious because they kept their recruiting visits and sent the poor volleyball girls to South Carolina anyway. Won't somebody think about their families?????

This is the heart of the matter. It benefits Florida to not play the game but LSU really needs the game if we are going to contend for the SEC West. (not saying we will but if that plays out then we need this game and a win).
Florida played this to their advantage 100% and will laugh all the way to the SEC Championship if the game is not made up. Really a shame the SEC didn't make this happen.

We are way too poor right now (according to SECr) to give up a home game to help the state of Florida
rebuild their infrastructure after Mathew.
Whatever the consequences to the SEC after LSU declines the game against Florida is not on us.
We are contractually obligated to play the Universry of South Alabama on November
