Is this CBS or ESPN's fault?

There are arguments in several threads over who has the 2nd pick on CBS' doubleheader weekend. If CBS gets first two picks, it's their fault. If CBS gets 1st and 3rd and ESPN gets second it's ESPN's fault.

Can someone answer this with proof?

It really doesn't matter in the grand scheme, but now I'm curious....

Its ESPN and timing. Because ESPN got 3rd pick on this day they pick the best game. They usually place it in primetime but they had MLB obligations for playoff baseball. So it gets 11 am.

Neither. It’s the SEC and also LSUs fault for entering into contracts where they don’t control kickoff time

The money is more important to them. Period

According to Shea Dixon the SEC pushed to have CBS take Tenn-LSU in either the 2:30 or 7pm slot and CBS gave them the finger basically

So CBS is the ones to blame

Not sure why uninformed people are arguing over this.

CBS gets the first two selections for their doubleheader. ESPN got 3rd pick. It's not complicated.

So CBS passed on us and ESPN took the next best game at 3rd?

As it ought to be for an athletic department that wants to be sustainable in the SEC.

Sure. Just telling people who to blame if they want to blame the proper party. Blame LSU

Not surprising since CBS is a lame-duck SEC broadcaster whose contract runs out in 2024 and will start carrying the Big Ten in 2023. And CBS’ MO the last few years is to take the top-ranked team as much as possible.

agreed.

TV networks only care about the number of eyeballs they can get on the screen.

That is it - nothing else.

All this whining is childish. Play the game, whenever and wherever it is.

Exactly. Wanna play every home game at 7? Go for it. But you can’t keep cashing those $65 million checks every year.

ESPN doesn't normally have an SEC game at 11 am. It's usually at 6 pm. But because of the CBS primetime game they can't have an ESPN game at night that week. They can have SECN games but not ESPN.

The 6 pm ESPN games is always 2nd pick each week. 3rd this week because of CBS. The game is moved to 11 am.

LSU/Tenn was the 3rd pick. But the ESPN game is at 11 am instead of 6 pm.
