It seems something is out of sync with the pitch calling for most of our relief pitchers. We all can see they haven't been good enough. I don't think this is all on the pitchers. With that in mind, I have noticed Jay and Wes are never talking to each other in the dugout. Anyone know if Jay & Wes are not on same page?

Nothing to say to each other when you don’t have the horses

Way to many curve balls being called when they cannot even throw fastballs for strike consistently.

I don’t see Jay interacting much with any of his assistants during the game FWIW.

I’d assume Wes has full control over pitch calling. And he’s still calling pitches as if he’s the the majors

What exactly is out of sync with the pitch calling other than our pitchers’ inability to throw the ball over the plate?

I heard from the friend of a friend that they are meeting later today on the playground to throw down. Let’s go see who wins.

This is what Jay has said all year. Wes has full control of the in game pitch calling. They get together to decide which pitchers to put in as far as bullpen goes and how they handle the staff.

Which consists of what exactly?

We don't really ever bunt, hit-and-run, or steal. Is he the one telling Crews and Dugas to watch strike one fastballs before chasing breaking pitches out of the zone?

Reviewing charted pitches for patterns, communicating pitcher scouting reports to the team as relievers come in, going through approaches & small tweaks at the plate with individual hitters

Just normal college baseball coaching things

So it’s a talent issue?

I mean Wes past speaks for itself on his development with pitchers but he has been extremely underwhelming this year and there's definitely questions with the rotation on pitches which, imo, has been horrible all year. Whoever is responsible for calling in the pitches should be slapped. I've seen conflicting reports on this so not sure what to believe. I've seen them throw like 10 straight breaking balls sometimes.

Not a single pitcher this year has got better in the bullpen. That makes you question coaching. He gets a pass this year but if we see anything similar next year his seat should get hot. A decent chunk of this bullpen is still leftovers from Pawl's era which is understandable. You went for guys like Dutton instead of USM's ace on the mound. That's why PM is in retirement.
