Yes, of course he could. Problem is, based on what we have seen so far, I am not sure if he is smart enough to do it.

He's taken a squad of players that have the talent to be a middle-third defense (on average) and turned them into one of the worst defenses in the history of the entire conference. We are actually happy to just give up 39 points and 500+ yards. That's how low the expectations are now for this loser.

fire your secondary coaches.

Maybe

But, also, we have some nice DB pieces coming in next year

Not sure id wanna risk losing them. Ideally the defensive coaches just get out their and recruit their tails off

Alignments and assignments have nothing to do with talent - this is the most of the issue.

WORST defense in the country, there are less talented defenses that have way better defenses

Coulda stopped there. If that doesn't do it then the answer is actually nothing for you.

The last time LSU held Alabama to 0, Dinardo was the head coach, Carl Reese was the DC (1997). For aTm it was pre-SEC aTm when Mike Archer was the coach but the DC was Pete Jenkins (1988).

Saturday’s second half was a good start
our D gave up almost exactly the same number of yards on nearly the same number of plays in each half.

So it's not like our D suddenly stopped Mizzou in the second half.

The second half stats were almost exactly equal as the horrible first half.

While true, if you're "talent" deficient (in the SEC, especially), it will cost you.

No debate, but a 'great' DC knows this and focuses on the details and making sure everyone on the field knows what to do -- then emphasizing what you do best as a unit.

The DL is the best 'defense' for this secondary and it was completely ignored. Getting pressure changes everything, but instead, we saw rotations and techniques not making sense with minimal blitzing.

In my view, a competent coach would have this talent at least top 60 in country. Hes 110+ and doesn't even enjoy recruiting (which obviously has to get better) ...I do not see any saving this guy.

correct.

Any decent coach can have a good D if he has great talent. It's what he does with lesser talent that shows whether he's a good coach or not.

House should've assessed our strengths and weaknesses, and then schemed around them accordingly.

I mean, he's paid millions to do this, and it's not rocket science.

Judging by Kelly's comments on "the process", I wouldn't expect them to play quickly.

Ship has sailed. If deficient at CB the best option is to get pressure on the QB. He simply refuses to do that.

He refuses to rush more than 4 and CBs are getting torched. Why not try to get more pressure, what do you have to lose? Guys are already getting abused. Pressure may force an interception, a sack, or a QB fumble.

I just don't think it's a good fit. He's had plenty of time - dating back to last year - to whip this defense into shape but we clearly have the worst defense in the SEC and one of the worst in the country. I really think he's probably a good coach, but sometimes things just don't work out. A new DC and some new assistants would be a welcomed sight!

Last season, everyone wanted to fire Denbrock.

This season, everyone wants to fire House.

And every loss, they want to fire Kelly.

People should’ve seen the obvious problems with House last year. Outside of Perkins completely changing 2-3 games with big plays House’s defense wasn’t any good last season. He needs to be let go after the season because if we start next year with another poor defense Kelly will get the blame and it’ll setback the rebuild he’s doing such a good job with.

Yes, imho. Now that Jenkins has rightfully put 4 DL on the los, I would like to see both Weeks and Perkins lined up in the gaps, showing a 6 man Defensive front on almost all plays. Both Weeks and Perkins have elite speed and if the Dlineman can engage the olinemen properly, gaps are predetermined for either Weeks or Perkins to blitz, always pressuring the offensive backfield. One or both could get a free run at the qb/RB and this is when TO'S happen. If one blitzes and it should not always be the same one obviously, the other could drop and spy. I would love to see LSU adopt this more attacking defense this week, and combine that with press coverage on the corners and nicke, not letting receivers get a free running start on a pass pattern. This will slow down offenses big time imo. Yes, LSU might get burned a bit, but TO's may offset that hopefully.
I know one thing, we can't continue to just line up like we do every play and expect a different result. 1300 yds of offense against LSU defense the last two weeks should demostrate the obvious need to change what we are doing. With House/BK, I'm not holding my breath.

He would have to get this defense to a level that we win the SEC. Beyond that he should be fired
